Morpho-Histometric Evaluations of Pre-Pubertal, Pubertal and Post-Pubertal Vesicular Gland of Indigenous Bulls of Bangladesh International Journal of Morphology
Adhikary,Gitaindro Nath; Begum,Mst. Ismat Ara; Islam,Muhammad Nazrul; Islam,Kazi Mehetazul; Rauf,Shah Md. Abdur.
The present observation was aimed to evaluate the gross and histometric parameters of the vesicular glands of indigenous bulls. Twenty-eight bulls of three age groups were selected from the local market: the pre pubertal group A (<1 year n=4), pubertal group B (1.52.5 years, n=16) and post pubertal or adult group C (above 3 years, n=8). The weight, length (anterio-posterior), width (latero-medial) and the thickness (dorso-ventral) of the both left and right vesicular glands were recorded separately after slaughter of each animal. The left and right vesicular gland shows significantly different (p<0.01), in weight and length in every group. Left vesicular glands were slightly higher than the right in all parameters. The lobules of the gland showed...

Histometric Parameters of Uterus and Vagina in Breeder Female Rabbits on the Day After Weaning According to the Ordinal Number of Parturitions International Journal of Morphology
Banda-Herrera,José Alfonso; Aragón Hernández,Jesús; López Ordaz,Reyes; Hernández Espinosa,Jorge; Pérez-Martínez,Mario.
The objective of this study was to establish in New Zealand female rabbits, the effect of ordinal number of parturitions on some histological parameters on the day after weaning. Tissue fragments of uterus and vagina were obtained from females of first, second and third parturitions and were processed imbedding them in paraffin in order to do histological cuts. In eight microscope fields captured by a camera connected to an optic microscope, the lumen and glandular endometrial epithelium height, as well as the thickness of vaginal and myometrium epithelium thickness were measured. From the results that were obtained it was concluded that there are significant differences (p<0.05) in histological parameters evaluated in uterus and vagina between does of...

Histomorphology of Liver, Testicle and Body Fat in Farm Rabbits Fed with an Obesogenic Diet During the Peripuberal Period International Journal of Morphology
Mejía Huerta,Nancy Guadalupe; Córdova Izquierdo,Alejandro; Aragón Hernández,Jesús; Flores Pérez,Fernando Iván; Pérez-Martínez,Mario.
Two groups were formed in order to evaluate the effect of an obesogenic diet on body and liver weight, body fat accumulation and the histometric characteristics of liver and testicles of New Zealand rabbits during the peripuberal period. One group received a standard farm diet and the other received a standard farm diet with canola oil added. During the study, weight of both groups was recorded. At the end of the study, the rabbits were euthanized and liver, testicles, and visceral, scapular and scrotal fat were weighed. Tissue samples were obtained from liver and testicles to carry out histometric analysis. Body weight, body mass index, liver and visceral fat weight were significantly different (P<0.01) in the obesogenic diet when compared to the...

Developmental pathway from leaves to galls induced by a sap-feeding insect on Schinus polygamus (Cav.) Cabrera (Anacardiaceae) Anais da ABC (AABC)
DIAS,GRACIELA G.; FERREIRA,BRUNO G.; MOREIRA,GILSON R.P.; ISAIAS,ROSY M.S..
Galling sap-feeding insects are presumed to cause only minor changes in host plant tissues, because they usually do not require development of nutritive tissues for their own use. This premise was examined through comparison of the histometry, cytometry and anatomical development of non-galled leaves and galls of Calophya duvauae (Scott) (Hemiptera: Calophyidae) on Schinus polygamus (Cav.) Cabrera (Anacardiaceae). Cell fates changed from non-galled leaves to galls during the course of tissue differentiation. C. duvauae caused changes in dermal, ground, and vascular systems of the leaves of S. polygamus. Its feeding activity induced the homogenization of the parenchyma, and the neoformation of vascular bundles and trichomes. The histometric and cytometric...

Plasma and testicular testosterone levels, volume density and number of Leydig cells and spermatogenic efficiency of rabbits BJMBR
Castro,A.C.S.; Berndtson,W.E.; Cardoso,F.M..
Plasma and tissue testosterone concentrations were determined by radioimmunoassay in 12 eight-month-old sexually mature New Zealand White rabbits and evaluated for possible associations with spermatogenic efficiency as well as with volume density and number of Leydig cells. Testicular tissue was processed histologically and histometry was performed in order to quantify germ cells, Sertoli cells and Leydig cells. Spermatogenic efficiency, reported as the ratios among germ cells (spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and round spermatids) and by the ratio of germ cells to Sertoli cells, was not associated with testosterone levels. However, Leydig cell parameters such as number of Leydig cells per gram of testis, total number of Leydig cells per testis and...
