| Whitemouth croaker (Micropogonias furnieri)has a broad distribution along the Atlantic coast of the Americas, from Mexico to the south of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the southern end of distribution, Argentina and Uruguay catch the species with different commercial fleet types bay or creek, coastal and off-shore and modalities of bottom trawling with doors and paired trawling. Maximum catches of both countries, that reached 60,000 t, were registered between 1995 and 1997. After that period a remarkable decrease was observed, specially in Argentina where catches remained at around 6,000 t over a total of 30,000 t for both countries. | Hake Merluccius hubbsi fecundity was estimated with the gravimetric method using ovaries with hydrated oocytes without post-ovulatory follicles. Samples were obtained in three research cruises in the Argentine Sea, off Chubut Province, SW of Peninsula Valdes between 42°S and 45°S, near Isla Escondida, during December 1993, 1994 and 1996, time which coincides with the most important reproductive activity. Relative fecundity values were 722 plus or minus 107, 606 plus or minus 60 and 533 plus or minus 26 oocytes per gram of female without ovaries, respectively. | Pope's Cohorts Analysis was modified to extend its application to a wider range of natural mortality, M and fishing mortality, F rate values. The modified method maintains the simplicity of the one established by Pope and does not require to resolve any non lineal equation in each cohort reconstruction process. The relative errors obtained when estimating the number of individuals per age (maximum and mean in absolute value) showed acceptable levels within the five domains (M and F pairs of values) analyzed in this work. | Este documento contiene el informe final del proyecto FIP 2006-03, realizado por el Instituto de Fomento Pesquero como unidad ejecutora y el Instituto de Investigación Pesquera de la Octava Región S.A. como subcontratada. El objetivo general del proyecto fue evaluar el stock de la merluza común (Merluccius gayi gayi) y estimar las características biológicas, pesqueras y oceanográficas relevantes del recurso. | The experimental survey done, in august 2005, in coastal marine zone (0 - 20 m) of Zarzis showed the existence of numerous species of shellfishes of which Tricolia speciosa, Smaragdia viridis, Nassarius incrassatus, Cerithium vulgatum and Gibbulla umbilicaris are the most important gasteropods and, Pinctada radiate and Donax trunculus the main bivalves. The biomasses estimation, based on the method of swept area, in the studied zone showed that P. radiate is the most abundant species with about 20 000 tones, followed by C. vulgatum (7 645 tones) and T. speciosa (more than 1 000 tones). | El presente informe contiene los resultados del proyecto FIP 2004-09, el que tuvo como objetivo central cuantificar el stock (estimar la distribución y abundancia) y determinar las características biológica, pesquera y oceanográfica relevantes del recurso. Metodológicamente, en primer lugar se realizó un crucero de prospección en el B/C Abate Molina, con el fin de recabar los datos acústicos, pesqueros y oceanográficos; en segundo lugar, el análisis de los datos para proceder con la evaluación del recurso. El crucero de prospección acústica que se llevó a cabo desde el 2 de julio al 12 de agosto de 2004 dentro del área de la pesquería, efectuándose 139 lances de pesca, 80 transectas acústicas y 92 estaciones oceanográficas. |
