Matière organique et pollution par les hydrocarbures dans les sédiments superficiels du golfe d'Arzew (mer Méditerranée, Algérie) ArchiMer
Buscail, R; Foudil-bouras, Ae; Pauc, H.
The distribution of global organic parameters (organic carbon, nitrogen, hydrolyzable carbon) was established in surficial sediments of the Gulf of Arzew. Moreover, humic substances, humin and hydrocarbons have provided information on the organic matter origin and evolution in the identified sedimentary areas: prodeltas at the mouth of the dry rivers Cheliff and Macta; muddy mid-deposits and carbonated shallow environments. The higher organic matter concentrations characterize the muddy mid-deposits and especially the western part located near the Arzew and Bethioua harbours (TOC > 0.9 %; Nt = 0.35 % d.w.). The marine origin of the organic matter is supported by low C/N ratios (5-9) in the total sediments and the position in the Van Krevelen diagram of...

Effects of boric acid and humate supplementation on performance and egg quality parameters of laying hens Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Hakan,KB; Gultekin,Y; Ozge,S.
In this study, the effects of boric acid and humate supplementation into hen diets on egg production and quality parameters and blood cholesterol levels were examined. For this aim, totally 160, 40 weeks of age, Hyline-White 98 layers were randomly divided into control and 3 treatment groups each containing 40 birds and 10 replicates (each with 4 birds). There was no boric acid or humate supplementation to control group diets (basal diet) where as treatment groups were supplemented with (basal diet plus) 90 ppm boric acid or 1 g/kg humate, or combination of these two feed additives, respectively. The experimental period lasted in 14 weeks. End of the trial there were no significant effects of dietary boric acid and humate inclusion on feed intake, egg...

Long-Term Effect of Soil Use and Management on Organic Carbon and Aggregate Stability Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Wolschick,Neuro Hilton; Barbosa,Fabrício Tondello; Bertol,Ildegardis; Bagio,Bárbara; Kaufmann,Danieli Schneiders.
ABSTRACT: The conversion of native grassland into farmland causes changes in the soil. Tillage has profound effects on soil organic matter. The intensification of soil tillage decreases soil quality by reducing aggregate stability. Soil aggregate stability and soil organic matter are key indicators for soil quality and environmental sustainability in agro-ecosystems. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the total organic carbon content and the physical and chemical fractions of the organic matter in a soil under different uses and types of management over 27 years. Four soil tillage treatments with two annual crops were evaluated (no-tillage, NT; rotating tillage, RT; minimum tillage, MT; and conventional tillage, CT), as well as bare soil (BS)...

Growth of silver catfish ( Rhamdia quelen ) exposed to acidic pH at different humic acid levels Ciência Rural
Costa,Silvio Teixeira da; Sutili,Fernando Jonas; Gressler,Luciane Tourem; Loebens,Luíza; Colpo,Carine Vargas; Lazzari,Rafael; Baldisserotto,Bernardo.
ABSTRACT: Humic substances are organic compounds that possess high molecular weight and are formed by the decomposition of plant materials. Humic substances comprise humic acids, fulvic acids and humin. Humic acids (HA) have shown to be able to provide some protection to biological membranes of fish in water with low pH, replacing the protective action of Ca2+. Thus, this studyaimed to observe growth of silver catfish ( Rhamdia quelen ) juveniles exposed to pHs 5.5 and 6.5 and to different levels of HA: 0, 10, 25 and 50mg L-1. Results showed that, irrespective of pH, HA was highly detrimental to silver catfish growth, since the higher the concentration of HA, the lower the weight gain and feed intake, resulting in lower biomass and lower specific growth...
