Water mites from Andean part of the Bolivian Amazonian rivers were examined. A new species is described, Limnesia aymara. New records and redescription are made for Hygrobatella multiacetabulata Cook,1980, Atractides brasiliensis (Lundblad, 1937) and Krendowskia convexa (Ribaga, 1902). A new subgenus Schwoerbelobatella for hygrobatelids poliacetabulated is proposed and characterized. Ecological characteristics of the river area sampled and ecological preferences of the analyzed species are discussed. This paper treats nine water mite species of Limnesia now known to occur in the Netherlands. Two species are new for the Netherlands: L. marmorata and L. curvipalpis. Limnesia angustata, previously considered a variety of L. maculata and raised to species level later on in the 20th century, fits the original description of L. marmorata and is similar to the type material of L. marmorata. Therefore L.angustata is synonymised with L. marmorata. A key to the nine species of the Netherlands is given as well as an overview of the ecology and, where available, information on the biology. Limnesia marmorata is very common, occurring in ditches, lakes and rivers, whereas L. curvipalpis is rare, being found in moorland pools and a eutrophic canal. With both latest... In de verspreidingsatlas uit 2000 worden 234 Nederlandse watermijten gemeld. Sinds die tijd worden regelmatig aanvullingen gerapporteerd. In dit artikel worden weer acht nieuwe soorten gemeld, wat het totaal nu op 266 brengt. Dit is een opmerkelijke toename van 13 % in 15 jaar. Tot nu toe was deze soort slechts twee keer eerder aangetroffen, namelijk in Berlijn in 1896 en in Oost-Pruisen, het tegenwoordige Kaliningrad, in 1907. Moreover, a number of new records of rare species is given. Re-identification of Dutch material previously reported as Sperchon glandulosus showed that all specimens belong to S. thienemanni. Furthermore Eylais tullgreni was added by Davids et al. (2005), which adds up to 242 species on the Dutch water mite list.
