Growth and development of Mentha piperita L. in nutrient solution as affected by rates of potassium BABT
Valmorbida,Janice; Boaro,Carmen Sílvia Fernandes.
The influence of potassium on the development of Mentha piperita L. was evaluated in the plants grown in nutritive solution modified by variations in potassium, at 6.0, 3.0, and 1.5 mmol L-1, establishing differences between treatments and corresponding, respectively, to the concentration proposed in Hoagland and Arnon's no. 2 solution and reductions by 50% and 75%. Until 21 days after transplanting, the concentration used was diluted to 50% in the three treatments. Evaluations consisted of leaf area, development of the above-ground part, and dry matter of different plant organs. Plants grown with 1.5/3.0 mmol L-1 K showed greater development of the above-ground part. Other variables were not different among plants in the different treatments.

Production and quality of Sweet Grape tomato in response to foliar fertilization with boron Horticultura Brasileira
Melo,Raphael O; Martinez,Hermínia P; Carneiro,Antonio PS.
ABSTRACT Boron (B) fertilizer application for tomato crop can be carried out by applying the nutrient to the soil or by spraying liquid solutions on leaves. The use of different fertilizers containing B can interfere in fertilization efficiency, since the performance of each product can be determined by its physicochemical properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the application efficiency of two boron-based commercial foliar fertilizers applied at two time intervals and their possible effects on production components of Sweet Grape tomato. An experiment was conducted under commercial hydroponic system in split-split plot scheme that combined two doses of boron in the nutrient solution [sufficient (25 µmol L-1) or insufficient (6.25 µmol L-1)],...

Yield of cherry tomatoes as a function of water salinity and irrigation frequency AGRIAMBI
Santos,Alexandre N.; Silva,Ênio F. de F. e; Silva,Gerônimo F. da; Barnabé,Janice M. C.; Rolim,Mario M.; Dantas,Daniel da C..
ABSTRACT The use of brackish water in agriculture can cause salinization of soils and reduce plant yield. This problem can be minimized by hydroponic cultivation, which improves plant development. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield of cherry tomatoes grown in hydroponic system with substrate under salinity levels of the nutrient solution (NS), exposure time to salinity and irrigation frequency. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in a randomized complete block design, in a 6 x 2 x 2 factorial scheme with five replicates: six salinity levels of NS prepared with brackish water (3.01; 4.51; 5.94; 7.34; 8.71 and 10.40 dS m-1); two exposure times to NS (60 and 105 days) and two irrigation frequencies (one irrigation per day and irrigation...
