| O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a taxa de transferência de imunidade passiva e de retenção de placenta com a utilização prévia de um glicocorticoide de longa ação na indução do parto bovino aos 270 dias de gestação, bem como verificar a eficácia dos protocolos. | The majority of children with Down syndrome (DS) tend to have frequent bacterial infections including recurrent respiratory infections. Our objective was to evaluate the production of antibodies to pneumococcal polysaccharide antigens after active immunization in DS subjects. IgG antibodies to pneumococcal serotypes (1, 3, 6B, 9V, and 14) were measured before and 6 weeks after immunization with a 23-valent pneumococcal vaccine (Pneumo23®, Pasteur-Merrieux) in 6- to 13-year-old DS children (N = 17) and in aged-matched normal controls (N = 30). | The effects of vitamin E and selenium (Se) supplementation on the immunity of hens vaccinated against a mixture of six swine-pathogenic Escherichia coli (EC) and avian encephalomyelitis virus (AEV) were studied. Antibody production (AbP) was evaluated in ninety 49 to 57-week-old H&N Nick Chick hens fed diets containing 14IU Vitamin E kg-1 (basal diet), 27, 59, 111, or 111IU vitamin E kg-1 + 0.56ppm Se supplementation. | The sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, has been subjected to intensive aquaculture on the Mediterranean cost for ten years. Marine fish hatcheries are key factors in the aquaculture field, and face different pathologies, especially one of viral origin (nodavirus) that could challenge their feasibility. Consequently, we have tried to provide some data on larvae and spawning stocks. Firstly, we have studied the immunoglobulins, components of the specific humoral immunity, and their role as antibodies. | This research was conducted with objective to evaluate the effect of different zinc (Zn) sources and doses in the diet for Santa Ines sheep. Forty lambs at weaning, with 18.4 kg of body weight were supplemented with three different sources of zinc (zinc oxide (ZnO), zinc amino acid and zinc proteinate) and three doses of zinc (200, 400 and 600 mg/kg DM) added to the basal diet.
