Cladistic analysis of the family cryphaeaeae (bryophyta) with emphasis on cryphaea: a study based on a comprehensive morphological dataset Darwiniana
Flores,Jorge R; Catalano,Santiago A; Suárez,Guillermo M.
The first comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the Cryphaeaceae (Bryophyta), a pleurocarpic moss family, is conducted on the basis of morphological characters. The data set comprised 73 characters: 10 continuous and 63 discrete. Taxon sampling involved nine genera and 46 species of Cryphaeaceae, 32 species belonging to Cryphaea. Outgroup sampling included 23 species from 21 genera and 13 families of pleurocarpous mosses. The phylogenetic analyses were conducted using parsimony as the optimality criterion following an implied weighting approach. The results did not support the monophyly of Cryphaeaceae as it excluded Dendroalsia abietina from the family. The clade composed of the remaining genera (clade A) was diagnosed by a short seta (0.26-0.30 mm),...

Cladistic analysis of the Argentinian species of the genus Bostryx (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora) based on morphological evidence Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Miranda,María José.
ABSTRACT The genus Bostryx Troschel, 1847 is found exclusively in South America, from Ecuador to Chile and mainly in the Andes mountain range. The phylogeny of Argentinian species of Bostryx was based on morphological characters of 19 species from Argentina, 5 from Peru and 7 from Bostryx-related genera, belonging to Bulimulidae and Odontostomidae. A matrix of 31 taxa and 78 morphological characters (19 of which were continuous and 59 discrete) from shell, pallial and reproductive systems was analysed under implied weighting with TNT. Argentinian species of the genus formed a monophyletic group together with the Peruvian species. The monophyly of this clade was supported by a set of 14 synapomorphies, principally related to continuous characters of the...

Description and phylogenetic analysis of the Calycopidina (Lepidoptera, Lycaenidae, Theclinae, Eumaeini): a subtribe of detritivores Rev. Bras. entomol.
Duarte,Marcelo; Robbins,Robert K..
Description and phylogenetic analysis of the Calycopidina (Lepidoptera, Lycaenidae, Theclinae, Eumaeini): a subtribe of detritivores. The purpose of this paper is to establish a phylogenetic basis for a new Eumaeini subtribe that includes those lycaenid genera in which detritivory has been recorded. Morphological characters were coded for 82 species of the previously proposed "Lamprospilus Section" of the Eumaeini (19 of these had coding identical to another species), and a phylogenetic analysis was performed using the 63 distinct ingroup terminal taxa and six outgroups belonging to four genera. Taxonomic results include the description in the Eumaeini of Calycopidina Duarte & Robbins new subtribe (type genus Calycopis Scudder, 1876), which...
