Price Linkage between International Price of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Cooking Oil Price in Indonesia AgEcon
Rifin, Amzul.
Cooking oil in Indonesia is considered to be one of the staple food of Indonesian people. In the beginning of 2008, the price of cooking oil in Indonesia has increased significantly. One of the reasons is the increase of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) price in the international market. The objective of this research is to investigate the impacts of international price of CPO on the domestic price of CPO and cooking oil. Three specific objectives are included (1) To test whether international price of CPO and domestic price of CPO and cooking oil are related through cointegration tests, (2) To test the causal relationships between international price of CPO and domestic price of CPO and cooking oil and (3) To analyze how domestic price of CPO and cooking oil food...

Spatial Analysis of Market Linkages in North Carolina Using Threshold Autoregression Models with Variable Transaction Costs AgEcon
Bekkerman, Anton; Goodwin, Barry K.; Piggott, Nicholas E..
In North Carolina, where soybeans and corn are the two primary crops, the recent increase in the demand for U.S. corn has triggered a shift of farm acreage from soybeans to corn, leading to a rapid rise in prices of both commodities. However, the rate of the price changes, as well as the price level, is significantly different in markets that are located in different parts of the state. This study extends the literature that examines linkages between spatially separated markets by using a threshold autoregressive model with a less restrictive assumption for estimating the transaction cost neutral band -- the band within which trade is not profitable. This generalization allows the neutral band of transactions costs to change according to various external...

Space-Time Modeling of Timber Prices AgEcon
Zhou, Mo; Buongiorno, Joseph.
A space-time econometric model was developed for pine sawtimber timber prices of 21 geographically contiguous regions in the southern United States. The correlations between prices in neighboring regions helped predict future prices. The impulse response analysis showed that although southern pine sawtimber markets were not globally integrated, local supply and demand shocks did transmit partially to immediate neighboring regions, and could also have weaker effects in more distant regions.

Comparative study of acoustic signals of rolling eggs on inclined plate and impulse response in eggshell crack detection CIGR Journal
Lashgari, Majid; Mohammadigol, Reza.
The potential of acoustic signals of rolling eggs on an inclined plate and impulse response for nondestructive detection of eggshell crack was investigated. Discrimination of hairline cracked and star cracked eggs from intact ones were carried out using artificial neural network. Ten features were used based on one-way ANOVA F-test statistics. According to the result, holdout detection accuracy of inclined plate and impulse response methods were 92.3% and 94.6%, respectively. The results indicated that these two methods were potentially useful for discrimination of eggs according to detection of different eggshell cracks.
