Compatibility Polymorphism Based on Long-Term Host-Parasite Relationships: Cross Talking Between Biomphalaria glabrata and the Trematode Schistosoma mansoni From Endemic Areas in Brazil ArchiMer
Lima, Mariana G.; Montresor, Lângia C.; Pontes, Joana; Augusto, Ronaldo De C.; Silva, Jairo Pinheiro Da; Thiengo, Silvana C..
Sympatric snail populations have been kept in the laboratory since the isolation of the parasite from the field. To evaluate the influence of the intermediate host in the infectivity of S. mansoni, this allopatric strain was compared to two sympatric strains, from different geographical origins, and with different time of maintenance in the laboratory. Snail–trematode compatibility was accessed for a total of nine possible combinations (three snail populations, three schistosome strains), using different charges of parasite: 1, 5, 10, and 15 miracidia/snail. Each S. mansoni strain was characterized according to its infectivity phenotype that reflects the efficiency of their infection mechanism and all B. glabrata populations were characterized according to...

Cyanogenic glycosides content as graft compatibility indicator in pear/quince combinations Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Santos-Pereira,Ivan dos; Campos,Ângela Diniz; Greigh de Brito,Giovani; Corrêa-Antunes,Luis Eduardo; Martins-Pereira,José Francisco.
Abstract The objective of this work is to evaluate the concentration of cyanogenic glycosides CGs (amygdalin and prunasin) in the cultivar and rootstock, as an indicator of compatibility in pear grafts. The work consists of two experiments. Experiment 1 evaluated Cascatense/Pyrus Calleryana and Cascatense/EMC combinations. Experiment 2 evaluated the combinations Packham’s Triumph/Adams, Santa Maria/Adams, and Rocha/Adams. The experimental design of the two experiments was randomized blocks with four replications. The evaluations were carried out in the spring and summer of the harvest 2014/2015. The results indicated graft compatibility in the Cascatense/P. Calleryana, Packham’s Triumph/Adams, and Rocha/Adams combinations; slight incompatibility of Santa...
