Strengthening of innovation activity at the cotton ginning industry in Uzbekistan AgEcon

Modernization of the companies engaged to primary cotton manufacturing represents some example of consequential innovative activities. Rapid growth of cotton ginning industry provides substantial positive influence on efficient operations of other adjacent industries of the national economy in Uzbekistan. The paper suggests ways to strengthen innovation activity in the industry to provide increase its competitiveness and develop export capacity of economy in general.

Should I Make or Should I Buy? Innovation Strategies and Governance Structures in the Italian Food Sector AgEcon

This paper analyses the “make or buy” decision of food firms applied to innovation strategy using 389 Italian food firms data from the Unicredit 2007 database. We develop a set of hypothesis from three theoretical perspectives such as transaction cost economics, strategic management and resource-based view. Our paper aims at highlight whether or not different firm’s features can be linked to the decision to make or buy. We found out that these two decisions are positively interlinked. Moreover we also found out that it is difficult to indicate a clear-cut behaviour for the Italian food firms if we refer to making or buying decisions. We discuss these results and use them to bring some interesting outcomes to discuss managerial implications and/or policy...

New Product Development in Thai Agro-Industry: Explaining the Rates of Innovation and Success in Innovation AgEcon

The Thai food industry is amongst the most dynamic and diverse in the world. Continual innovation in the form of new product development is critical to this industry, and yet new products are more likely to fail than succeed. In this paper,we investigate factors explaining both the rate of new product development as well as the rate of success in products newly introduced into the market, using data from a survey of firms. The methodology involves a Poisson regression to investigate the determinants of innovation and a Least Squares regression to explain success rates in innovation.
