Calcium anacardate as growth promoter for piglets at the nursery phase PAB
Matos,Amanda Veruska Silva de; Watanabe,Pedro Henrique; Freitas,Ednardo Rodrigues; Santos,Kassia Moreira; Araújo,Lina Raquel Santos; Nepomuceno,Rafael Carlos; Vieira,Alini Mari; Vieira,Eloisa Helena Mendes.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the dietary inclusion of calcium anacardate on the performance, diarrhea incidence, blood parameters, intestinal morphometry, and pH of gastrointestinal contents in piglets from 21 to 42 days of age. Sixty weaned Topigs piglets, with initial weight of 6.049±0.311 kg, were distributed in the following treatments: diet with or without antibiotic growth promoter (zinc bacitracin) and diets supplemented with increasing levels of calcium anacardate (0.4, 0.8, and 1.2%), with six replicates and two animals per experimental unit. No differences in performance (21 to 42 days of age), blood parameters, and villus height:crypt depth ratio were found between piglets fed diets containing calcium...

Energetic Values and Inclusion Levels of the Dry Residue of Cassava in Broiler Diet Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Trautenmüller,H; Broch,J; Pires Filho,IC; Silva,IM; Frank,R; Schöne,RA; Carvalho,PLO; Eyng,C; Nunes,RV.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the energetic values of dry residue of cassava (DRC) and the effects of its inclusion in broiler diets on performance, intestinal morphometry, protein and fat deposition rate, and carcass and cut yields. In experiment I, two metabolism trials were carried out from 11-21 and from 31-41 days of age. The birds were distributed in a completely randomized design and DRC was included at levels of 10, 20, 30 and 40% in the basal diet. In experiment II, 980 male chicks were distributed in a completely randomized design with seven treatments (0; 2; 4; 6; 8; 10; 12% DRC) and seven replicates. DRC levels did not influence (p>0.05) the energetic values. From days 1-7, weight gain (WG) had a linear adjustment, and...

Yeast extract and prebiotic in pre-initial phase diet for broiler chickens raised under different temperatures R. Bras. Zootec.
Silva,Vanessa Karla; Silva,Janaina Della Torre da; Gravena,Rodrigo Antonio; Marques,Rafael Henrique; Hada,Fabricio Hirota; Moraes,Vera Maria Barbosa de.
The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance, carcass yield and intestinal morphometry of broiler chickens raised under different temperatures that received feed with or without yeast extract and prebiotic in the pre-initial phase. One thousand four hundred and forty one-day old male chicks were used, raised in different climate chambers. Feed with or without the addition of yeast extract and prebiotic was offered only in the pre-initial phase (1 to 7 days). From the eighth day on, every chick received the same feed, readjusted according to usual recommendations. A randomized complete experimental design was used in a 3 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, consisting of three environmental temperatures (hot, comfort and cold) and two levels of...

Post-hatch fasting and infectious bronchitis vaccination affect growth, gastrointestinal development, and morphometric parameters of the small intestine of broiler breeders up to three weeks of age R. Bras. Zootec.
Fernandez-Alarcon,Miguel Frederico; Souza,Fernando Augusto de; Campos,Daniel Mendes Borges; Hada,Fabricio Hirota; Nogueira,Wedson Carlos Lima; Macari,Marcos; Furlan,Luiz Roberto; Furlan,Renato Luis.
ABSTRACT The influence of fasting and vaccination against infectious bronchitis (IB) on growth, gastrointestinal development, and morphometric parameters of the small intestine of newborn broiler breeders was investigated. Weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), gastrointestinal visceral growth, residual yolk sac, and morphometric parameters of the small intestine were measured in chicks aged up to 21 d. We showed that WG was lowest in chicks exposed to longer fasting periods (72 h), although compensatory gains with increasing age were also observed. Unvaccinated chicks performed better at seven days; however, at 21 d of age, a compensatory response led to better FCR in vaccinated birds. Allometric growth of the gastrointestinal tract was affected...
