Availability of phosphorus for maize in crop-livestock integration system Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Galetto,Shivelly Los; Fonseca,Adriel Ferreira da; Harkatin,Silvano; Auler,André Carlos; Carvalho,Igor Quirrenbach de.
The objectives of this study were to assess the concentrations of available phosphorus (P) extracted using the Mehlich-1 (M1), ion exchange resin (IER) and modified Morgan (MM) methods after 36 months of experimentation with the application of phosphates in a crop-livestock integration system (CLIS). Moreover, this study aimed to assess which extraction method provides the best correlation of P concentrations with the maize crop attributes. The treatments consisted of applying annual doses of P2O5 on the soil surface of the total area during the sowing of winter forage crops in the form of triple superphosphate (TSP), rock phosphate (RP) or magnesium thermophosphate (MTP). After 36 months of experimentation, soil samples were collected from the 0-5, 5-10,...

Barium extraction potential by mustard, sunflower and castor bean Scientia Agricola
Coscione,Aline Renée; Berton,Ronaldo Severiano.
Barium salts are used extensively for industrial purposes, generating residues that, if not appropriately disposed, can increase soil Ba content. The aim of the present work was to evaluate Ba extraction potential of mustard (Brassica juncea Czern.), sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), and castor bean (Ricinus communis L.), grown in a soil artificially contaminated with increasing Ba additions. A greenhouse experiment was carried out by adding BaSO4 to a Rhodic Hapludox sample, at the 0, 150 and 300 mg kg-1 rates. After harvesting, the pot soil material was also analyzed for exchangeable Ba by CaCl2 extraction and by an ion exchange resin method. None of the plant species tested presented toxicity symptoms, decreased nutrient accumulation or decreased dry...

Adsorption of amyloglucosidase from Aspergillus niger NRRL 3122 using ion exchange resin BABT
Manera,Ana Paula; Kamimura,Eliana Setsuko; Brites,Luciana Machado; Kalil,Susana Juliano.
Amyloglucosidase enzyme was produced by Aspergillus niger NRRL 3122 from solid-state fermentation, using deffated rice bran as substrate. The effects of process parameters (pH, temperature) in the equilibrium partition coefficient for the system amyloglucosidase - resin DEAE-cellulose were investigated, aiming at obtaining the optimum conditions for a subsequent purification process. The highest partition coefficients were obtained using 0.025M Tris-HCl buffer, pH 8.0 and 25ºC. The conditions that supplied the highest partition coefficient were specified, the isotherm that better described the amyloglucosidase process of adsorption obtained. It was observed that the adsorption could be well described by Langmuir equation and the values of Qm and Kd...

Development and evaluation of ofloxacin orally disintegrating tablets BJPS
Mohite,Badrinath Pralhadrao; Chafle,Sandip Annaji; Somasundaram,Jayaprakash; Avari,Jasmine Gev.
Bitter taste of ofloxacin, a broad spectrum bactericidal agent, is masked and orally disintegrating tablets were formulated. The bitter taste is masked by forming complex between drug and weak cation exchange resins, Tulsion 335 and Indion 204. Effect of pH and drug:resin ratio on the drug loading was studied. Maximum drug loading was observed at pH 6. Ratio of 1:2 of drug:resin masked almost complete bitterness of ofloxacin. Formation of complexes was confirmed by IR spectroscopy. Physical characterization of taste masked complexes was carried out. Present work envisages the taste masking of ofloxacin and development of orally disintegrating tablets. The effect of pH and resin quantities on drug loading were studied to find the optimum conditions of drug...
