Jara,Carlos G; Rudolph,Erich H; González,Exequiel R.

LISTA SISTEMATICA DE ESPECIES DE PERACARIDOS DE CHILE (CRUSTACEA, EUMALACOSTRACA) Gayana
González,Exequiel R; Haye,Pilar A; Balanda,Maria-José; Thiel,Martin.

Lopes,Elis R. C.; Blasina,Juliana R.; Dumont,Luiz F. C.; D'Incao,Fernando.

Ansenne, A; Compere, P; Goffinet, G.
The mineralized tergite cuticle of four terrestrial isopods (Oniscoidea) (Ligia oceanica, Oniscus asellus, Porcellio scaber and Armadillidium vulgare ) and of the marine isopod Sphaeroma serratum shows a general organization comparable to the fundamental plan of the decapod sclerite cuticle. Moreover, as in decapods, the procuticular layers are not tanned and mineralization rates, from 60 to 80% of the total cuticular dry weight, are of the same importance. However, the chitin protein microfibril distribution according to a homogeneous system in the mineralized procuticular proximal layer in all isopod species so far studied does not allow any comparison of this layer with the non-mineralized membranous layer.

Possible effects of global environmental changes on Antarctic benthos: a synthesis across five major taxa ArchiMer
Ingels, Jeroen; Vanreusel, Ann; Brandt, Angelika; Catarino, Ana I.; David, Bruno; De Ridder, Chantal; Dubois, Philippe; Gooday, Andrew J.; Martin, Patrick; Pasotti, Francesca; Robert, Henri.
Because of the unique conditions that exist around the Antarctic continent, Southern Ocean (SO) ecosystems are very susceptible to the growing impact of global climate change and other anthropogenic influences. Consequently, there is an urgent need to understand how SO marine life will cope with expected future changes in the environment. Studies of Antarctic organisms have shown that individual species and higher taxa display different degrees of sensitivity to environmental shifts, making it difficult to predict overall community or ecosystem responses. This emphasizes the need for an improved understanding of the Antarctic benthic ecosystem response to global climate change using a multitaxon approach with consideration of different levels of biological...

Cylisticus convexus, een in Nederland zeldzame synantrope landpissebed (Crustacea: Isopoda: Oniscoidea) Naturalis
Berg, M.P.; Wijnhoven, H.; Tempelman, D..
Cylisticus convexus, a rare synanthropic woodlouse in The Netherlands (Crustacea: Isopoda: Cylisticidae) Until recently, the occurrence of Cylisticus convexus (De Geer, 1778) in the Netherlands was uncertain. The only certain old record dates from March 1927, when the species was collected at the coal-shed of the Zoological Museum at Amsterdam. During the last years, two specimens have been collected on semi-natural sites. Both were found on a dike, one near Everdingen, in the province of Gelderland, and one near Ritthem, in the province of Zeeland. These are the first records of C. convexus in the field. Yet the species certainly is very rare in The Netherlands. The most important morphological characteristics of the species are described and...

Redescription of Echinomunna horrida Vanhöffen, 1914, a highly derived and rare species from the Antarctic (Crustacea, Isopoda, Munnidae) Naturalis
Brandt, Angelika.
During an expedition with RV Polarstern (1998) a male specimen of Echinomunna horrida was collected in the supranet of an epibenthic sledge in the Weddell Sea, Antarctica. Due to an incomplete and poor description by Vanhöffen (1914) a redescription is necessary on the basis of the male from the Weddell Sea and the female syntypes from the East Antarctic.

Berg, M.P.; Noordwijk, C.G.E. van; Kruithof , A..
Daar is nu verandering in gekomen.

The exotic isopod Synidotea in the Netherlands and Europe, a Japanse or American invasion (Pancrustacea: Isopoda)? Naturalis
Faasse, M.A..
Synidotea is an invasive isopod genus in European waters. The identification of introduced populations has given rise to much controversy. Synidotea recently has been recorded from the Westerschelde estuary on the southern North Sea coast. Other records from the north Atlantic were attributed to S. laevidorsalis; the material from the Westerschelde estuary however is identified as S. laticauda.

Sphaeromatidae (Crustacea, Isopoda) of the Beagle Channel and description of Cymodopsis beageli n. sp Naturalis
Brandt, Angelina.
During an expedition with RV Victor Hensen (1994) and the RV Polarstern (1996) Isopoda Sphaeromatidae were collected in and off the eastern entrance of the Beagle Channel. The species found, Caecocassidias patagonica Kussakin, 1967, Cassidinopsis emarginata (Guérin-Méneville, 1843) and Moruloidea darwinii (Cunningham, 1871), were previously all poorly or insufficiently described; therefore a redescription is presented herein. Exosphaeroma gigas (Leach, 1818) was also collected frequently, but it was already redescribed earlier and thus only the localities are presented. Moreover, a new species, Cymodopsis beageli, n.sp., which is most closely allied to Cymodopsis sphyracephalata Hurley & Janssen, 1977, is described from the Beagle Channel.

Short notes and reviews A Storthyngura (Crustacea, Isopoda) from the Bellingshausen Sea, Antarctica Naturalis
Brandt, Angelika.
During the expedition ANT XI/3 with RV Polarstern 17 multiple corers were taken in the Bellingshausen Sea. From this material only a single, immature isopod was sorted. This specimen is a manca II of a presumably new species of the genus Storthyngura. However, as it is immature and only a single specimen was sampled, more material of this species will have to be collected prior to the description of a new species.

Berg, M.P.; Dias, A.T.C.; Oosten, R. van; Bellone, D..
