Response of duck breeders to dietary L-Carnitine supplementation during summer season Anais da ABC (AABC)
RIZK,YASSER S.; FAHIM,HANY N.; BESHARA,MALAK M.; MAHROSE,KHALID M.; AWAD,AWAD L..
Abstract: A total number of 300 (225 ducks and 75 drakes) Sudani ducks, 28-wk-old were divided into five groups to investigate the effects of dietary L-carnitine (LC) supplementation on productive, hatching and physiological performance as well as nutrients digestibility coefficients. The results indicated that the productive performance and Semen quality parameters (ejaculate volume, sperms concentration and advanced motility) were significantly improved by LC supplementation (150-450 mg /kg diet) as compared to the control. Hatchability of fertile eggs (%) was significantly improved, while total embryonic mortality was significantly decreased by supplementing 300 and 450 mg LC/kg diet. Supplementing different dietary LC levels resulted in significantly...

Effects of chito-oligosaccharides and L-carnitine supplementation in diets for Japanese quails on performance, carcass traits and some blood parameters Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Tufan,T.; Arslan,C.; Durna,Ö.; Önk,K.; Sari,M.; Erman,H..
The aim of this study was to determine effects of dietary supplementation with chitosanoligosaccharides (COS) and L-carnitine, individually or dually, on growth performance, carcass traits and some blood serum parameters in quails. A total of 192, four days old, Japanese quail chicks were allotted four groups, each of which included four replicates (12 birds per replicate). The groups received the same basal diet supplemented with 0 (Control), 150mg/kg chitosanoligosaccharides (COS), 150mg/kg L-carnitine (Carnitine), and 150 mg/kg chitosanoligosaccharides+150 mg/kg L-carnitine (COS+Car.) during the starter (1 to 21 days) and a grower (22 to 42 days) period. The feeding trial shoved that COS, L-carnitine and COS+L-carnitine had no significant effect on live...

L-carnitine as an ergogenic aid for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease submitted to whole-body and respiratory muscle training programs BJMBR
Borghi-Silva,A.; Baldissera,V.; Sampaio,L.M.M.; Pires-DiLorenzo,V.A.; Jamami,M.; Demonte,A.; Marchini,J.S.; Costa,D..
The effects of adding L-carnitine to a whole-body and respiratory training program were determined in moderate-to-severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. Sixteen COPD patients (66 ± 7 years) were randomly assigned to L-carnitine (CG) or placebo group (PG) that received either L-carnitine or saline solution (2 g/day, orally) for 6 weeks (forced expiratory volume on first second was 38 ± 16 and 36 ± 12%, respectively). Both groups participated in three weekly 30-min treadmill and threshold inspiratory muscle training sessions, with 3 sets of 10 loaded inspirations (40%) at maximal inspiratory pressure. Nutritional status, exercise tolerance on a treadmill and six-minute walking test, blood lactate, heart rate, blood pressure, and...

Carcass Traits and Immune Response of Broiler Chickens Fed Dietary L-Carnitine, Coenzyme Q10 and Ractopamine Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Asadi,H; Sadeghi,AA; Eila,N; Aminafshar,M.
ABSTRACT This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of coenzyme Q10, L-carnitine and ractopamine supplementation, alone and in combinations, on carcass traits and immune response of broiler chickens. Five hundred and twelve one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were randomly allocated into eight treatments with four replicates each. A 2×2×2 factorial arrangement was applied, with two levels of coenzyme Q10 (0 and 40 mg/kg), two levels of L-carnitine (0 and 200 mg/kg) and two levels of ractopamine (0 and 10 mg/kg). The birds were reared until day 42 of age under standard conditions. Blood samples were collected at the end of grower and finisher periods from the wing vein. Four birds per group were sacrificed at day 42 of age. Except for carcass...

Gamma-orizanol and L-carnitine effect under body, performance and laboratory parameters in barrel racing competitors American quarter horses MV&Z
Oliveira, Karina Cristina; Bannwart-Castro, Camila Ferreira; Souza, Arnaldo Sotero Luz.
The American quarter horses are known by their uses in various activities, due to their high resistance and speed. The constant search for improvement in muscle mass gain and recovery in horses, mainly athletes, drives research for supplements without side effects. The objective of the present study was to evaluate clinical and laboratory parameters in these animals supplemented with gamma-orizanol and L-carnitine, before and after the execution of the barrel racing. These pure horses would receive 200 milliliters (ml) from the Energy Horse® supplement as a feed supply for animals in stable and oral feed for picket animals. The course of a race on an official track was performed in three moments of the experiment: day 0, day 30 and day 60 after treatment....
