By gathering specific measurement criteria and an objective analysis of field methods, the main purpose of this work is to help estimate larval Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Sea Bream {Sparus auratus) stock performance raised under intensive conditions. As such, it is a methodology guide zootechnicians can use, in their daily quantitative and qualitative evaluation stock issues. The first part of this work covers defining the precision of current counting methods and establishing their limitations. The quantification methods analysed, as well as the new proposed methods, relate to the major phases of larval farming, from laying to postlarval stage. Three field methods commonly used in aquaculture to quantify egg population are therefore... |
