Acalyptris Meyrick: revision of the platani and staticis groups in Europe and the Mediterranean (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Trifurcula (Trifurcula) pallidella (Duponchel, 1843) is recorded for the first time from Spain, Andalusia. Previous records were misidentifications. Male genitalia are illustrated and a revised distribution map is provided. A few records of Trifurcula (Levarchama) species from the Annotated catalogue published in 2004 are corrected.

Revision of the genus Trichomeloe Reitter, with the description of new species and first instar larvae (Coleoptera: Meloidae) Naturalis
Bologna, M.A.; Giulio, A. Di.
The Palaearctic genus Trichomeloe is reviewed and newly defined on the basis of larval and adult characters. Its position among the Lyttini tribe is discussed. Trichomeloe includes eight species, mostly from the Near East. The bionomics of the genus is summarized, together with a key to the species, an annotated catalogue and some taxonomic remarks. T. syriacus n. sp. from Syria and T. mesopotamicus n. sp. from northern Irak, are described. The first instar larva of T. syriacus is described and compared with that of T. chrysocomus, both figured by scanning electron microscopy photographs.

Comparative morphology of the first zoea of twelve brachyuran species (Crustacea: Decapoda) from the Amazon region Rev. Bras. Zool.
Souza,Adelson S. de; Costa,Rauquírio M. da; Abrunhosa,Fernando A..
The laboratory-hatched first zoeal stage of twelve brachyuran species collected in the estuarine area of the Caeté River in the Amazonian region are described and illustrated in the present study: P. americanus Saussure, 1857, Eurytium limosum (Say, 1818), Sesarma curacaoense De Man, 1892, S. rectum Randall, 1840, Armases rubripes (Rathbun, 1897), Aratus pisonii (H. Milne Edwards, 1837), Ocypode quadrata (Fabricius, 1787), Uca rapax (Smith, 1870), U. maracoani (Latreille, 1802), U. thayeri Rathbun, 1900, Ucides cordatus (Linnaeus, 1763) and Pachygrapsus gracilis (Saussure, 1858). Through intraspecific comparisons of the respective larval stage, an identification key was generated and provided. Most of the studied species presented morphological differences...

The complete larval development of Armases benedicti (Rathbun) (Decapoda, Sesarmidae), from the Amazon region, reared in the laboratory Zoologia
Lima,Jô de F.; Abrunhosa,Fernando.
The four zoeal and one megalopal stages of the wharf crab Armases benedicti (Rathbun, 1897) larvae reared in the laboratory are described and illustrated in detail. The mean duration for each larval stage was 3, 2, 4, 4 and 13 days, respectively. The duration of the larval period from hatching to the first juvenile was 26 days. Morphologically, A. benedicti is very similar to the reported species of genus. However, a small lateral spine is clearly observed in the carapace of zoeal stages of this species. This feature appears to be unique among the family Sesarmidae. Another distinctive character for this species is the zoeal setation of the maxilla endopod (2+2) in which most of the sesarmids have setation (2+3) except for Sesarma tetragonum (Fabricius,...

The larva of Scinax similis (Cochran, 1952) is described from Ilha do Fundão (Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil). Comparisons with other species of the group that occur in Southeastern Brazil are added. The larva of S. similis can be distinguished by the following diagnostic features: (1) eyes large in relation to body length (17,3%), body height (26,8%), and body width (29,7%), interocular distance three times larger than eye diameter; (2) lower beak with two transverse stripes, proximal half white and distal half black.

Morphology of the first zoeal stages of five species of the portunid genus Callinectes (Decapoda, Brachyura) hatched at the laboratory Anais da ABC (AABC)
MANTELATTO,FERNANDO L.; REIGADA,ÁLVARO L.D.; GATTI,ALINE C.R.; CUESTA,JOSÉ A..
The genus Callinectes Stimpson, 1860 currently consists of 16 species, six of which are reported in Brazilian coast. In the present study, the first zoeal stages of Callinectes bocourti,C. danae, C. exasperatus, C. ornatus and C. sapidus from Brazil were obtained from ovigerous females. The morphological and meristic characters of all these larval stages are described and illustrated. Those of C. bocourti, C. danae and C. sapidus are redescribed and compared with the previous descriptions, and differences are listed. Larval characters of these species were examined for interspecific differences, as well as larval features to distinguish the genus Callinectes within Portunidae. In addition, other portunid genera and species with a known first zoeal stage...
