BIOPHOTONICS: ACCLIMATION OF PRE-SPROUTED SUGARCANE SEEDLINGS IN PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT REA
Almeida Neto,Luiz A.; Pandorfi,Héliton; Moraes,Alex S.; Guiselini,Cristiane; C. Júnior,José J. Florentino.
ABSTRACT Sugarcane is considered one of the main alternatives for biofuel production and an important product of Brazilian agriculture, so it is indispensable to adopt new techniques for its cultivation and management. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the quality of supplemental lighting, based on light-emitting diode (LED), on the acclimation of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlings in a protected environment. The experimental design was completely randomized, consisting of three supplemental LED lighting systems, with light proportions of 90% red + 10% blue (R:B 90/10), 80% red + 20% blue (R:B 80/20) and 70% red + 30% blue (R:B 70/30), and a control, with natural solar radiation, with 5 replicates. Multivariate principal component...

Effect of Led Lighting Colors for Laying Japanese Quails Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Nunes,KC; Garcia,RG; Nääs,IA; Eyng,C; Caldara,FR; Sgavioli,S; Roriz,BC; Ayala,CM.
ABSTRACT Time of exposure and light intensity rearing house may affect the performance and egg quality of laying quails. This research aimed at evaluating the live performance, egg quality, biometry of the reproductive system, and the gastrointestinal tract of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) exposed to artificial light-emitting diodes (LED) of different colors in comparison with fluorescent lamps. A total of 240 Japanese quails were distributed in completely randomized experimental design with four treatments (fluorescent lamp, and green, red, or blue LED lamps) with six replicates of 10 birds each. Average egg weight and eggshell thickness were different (p<0.05) when LED bulbs were compared with fluorescent lamps. The egg weight of the...

Growth of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlings submitted to supplementary lighting AGRIAMBI
Almeida Neto,Luiz A.; Guiselini,Cristiane; Menezes,Dimas; Cordeiro Júnior,José J. F.; Pandorfi,Héliton.
ABSTRACT Brazil is the largest producer and exporter of sugarcane in the world, and the sugar and ethanol sector has invested in the development of new technologies and methods of planting to meet the market demand. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of sugarcane at the acclimation phase and under field conditions, from pre-sprouted seedlings exposed to supplementary lighting, through light-emitting diode, in the period of acclimation in a greenhouse. The experiment was carried out in Carpina, PE, Brazil, from January to September 2017. The experimental plots were composed of pre-sprouted seedlings acclimated in greenhouse, exposed to the supplementary lighting systems, 90% Red + 10% Blue (R:B 90/10), 80% Red + 20% Blue (R:B...

The use of light-emitting diodes to stimulate mitochondrial function and liver regeneration of partially hepatectomized rats BJMBR
Castro-e-Silva,T.; Castro-e-Silva,O.; Kurachi,C.; Ferreira,J.; Zucoloto,S.; Bagnato,V.S..
The biostimulating effect of laser radiation has been observed in many areas of Medicine. However, there are still several questions to be answered, among them the importance of light coherence in the stimulatory process. In the present study, we used light-emitting diodes (LED) to promote the stimulation of liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy in rats. Fourteen male Wistar rats weighing 200-250 g were submitted to partial hepatectomy (70%) followed by LED light irradiation (630 nm) of the remaining part of the liver at two doses, i.e., 10 (N = 7) and 140 (N = 7) J/cm². A group irradiated with laser, 590 nm (N = 7, 15 J/cm²) was performed for the study of proliferating cell nuclear antigen-labeling index. Data are reported as mean ± SEM....
