Stigmella rolandi sp. n.: a widespread southern European species on Rosa (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae). Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Stigmella rolandi sp. n., belonging to the Stigmella sangaisorbae group, is described from southern Europe. It has previously been misidentified as S. spinosissimae Waters, a western European species. The species is characterized by a costal hair pencil on the male hindwing. The distribution is mapped, and the biology described: the larva feeds on Rosa and Sangclisorba.

Non-Farm Diversification Decisions of Rural Households in Macedonia AgEcon
Mollers, Judith; Heidhues, Franz; Buchenrieder, Gertrud.
The non-farm sector is crucial to rural households in transition economies since it offers employment, reduces urban migration and can contribute to poverty reduction, economic growth and a more equal income distribution. This study on diversification decisions and rural incomes reviews evidence from a household survey in Macedonia. It looks at non-farm diversification dynamics and analyses income portfolios and driving forces of diversification decisions. The results confirm that non-farm employment and diversified income portfolios are outstanding features of rural households in Macedonia, where unfavourable economic conditions and insufficient farm incomes have driven farm households to open up income sources in the non-farm sector. Further adaptations...

Water communities in the Republic of Macedonia: an empirical analysis of membership satisfaction and payment behaviour AgEcon
Gorton, Matthew; Sauer, Johannes; Peshevski, Mile; Bosev, Dane; Shekerinov, Darko; Quarrie, Steve.
Utilizing primary survey data, we investigate the performance of Water Communities (WCs), a form of self-managing organisation for irrigation, in the Bregalnica region of the Republic of Macedonia. While their introduction improved cost recovery, only modest changes occurred in the cost of irrigation water and many farmers remain indifferent to the WCs. Econometric analysis focuses on the decision of farmers to join a WC, determinants of farmers’ satisfaction with WCs and factors associated with changes in payment behaviour. Key determinants identified include transparency and trust regarding the conduct of WCs, cost recovery rates, farm size and irrigation costs. Membership satisfaction is an important determinant of payment behaviour.

WATER COMMUNITIES IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION AND PAYMENT BEHAVIOUR AgEcon
Gorton, Matthew; Sauer, Johannes; Peshevski, Mile; Bosev, Dane; Shekerinov, Darko; Quarrie, Steve.
The performance of Water Communities (WCs), a form of self-managing organisation for irrigation, in the Bregalnica region of the Republic of Macedonia is investigated. Analysis, drawing on primary survey data, focuses on the decision of farmers to join a WC (Heckman selection probit model), determinants of farmers’ satisfaction with their membership of WCs (ordered probit model) and factors associated with changes in farmers’ water payment behaviour (non-parametric CLAD model). Key determinants identified include transparency and trust with respect to the structure and operation of the WC, cost recovery rates, farm size and irrigation costs. Membership satisfaction is an important determinant of payment...
