| A recent collection of bats from northern Sulawesi (Celebes), Halmahera and Bacan (Batjan), Indonesia, contains representatives of three macroglossine genera. A specimen of Eonycteris rosenbergii (Jentink, 1889) from northern Sulawesi — a species previously known only from the immature type specimen — together with an additional, previously unreported specimen confirms the diagnostic value of the absence of the third lower molar. The validity of this taxon has been questioned by several authors, who suggested that E. rosenbergii is based on an anomalous specimen of E. spelaea (Dobson, 1871).
