| An approximately 1.5-year-old, not neutered mixed breed cat was referred for evaluation of inability to open its mouth, and soft tissue swelling around the intermandibular region. Both signs were present since the cat was adopted, 1 year before presentation. The cause of the signs was not determined prior to referral. Based on the physical and radiographic examinations, left temporomandibular joint ankylosis and salivary mucocele were diagnosed. The lateral aspect of the condyloid process of the left mandible was removed and the salivary mucocele was treated by right mandibular and sublingual gland resection and drainage of the mucocele. After surgery, the cat showed good functional use of the mandible without discomfort. |

| Chronic osteomyelitis of maxilla and mandible is rare in industrialized countries and its occurrence in developing countries is associated with trauma and surgery, and its microbial etiology has not been studied thoroughly. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the microbiota associated with osteomyelitis of mandible or maxilla from some Brazilian patients. | A multiple mandible fracture was diagnosed in a mixed breed dog. After clinical examination, extra-oral radiographs were used to evaluate the trauma but, a complete visualization of the fractures extension was difficult due to the great of structures of cranium. Then, the computed tomography was accomplished to help and to find all osseous tissues fractured, their exact location, existent fragments and their positions; being superior to the radiograph exam in the accurate diagnosis realized. |

| The presence of the Accessory Foramina of the Mandibular Ramus (AFMR) may be related to anaesthetic failures in the inferior alveolar nerve block and complications in the ramus surgeries. The purpose of the present investigation was to determine the occurrence of the AFMR in adults and, when present, measure its distance to the Mandibular Foramen (MF), to the Mandibular Lingula (ML) and to the posterior margin of the mandibular ramus (PM), comparing data obtained in both sides of the mandible. | Morphological variation of the ramus mandibulae of wild Sus scrofa was described and correlated to sex and age differences. Young forms (n=27, 15 males, 12 females) and adults (n=23, 13 males, 10 females) were analyzed through Geometric Morphometrics (2-D) to assess differences between groups. We found significant differences between age- and sex-related shape variations at ramus mandibulae level. Young wild boars present bulky angular process with backward oriented coronoid process, while adults show slender jaw vertical ramus, and orthogonally oriented coronoid process. | Loth & Henneberg (1996) described a simple morphological feature for sex determination by observing the flexure of the posterior margin of the mandibular ramus, at the level of the plane occlusal. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of agreement for determining the sex by observing the parameters described by Loth and Henneberg, in ortopantomography of totally dentate Chilean young adults. | The aim of this study was to correlate the morphodigital characteristics of the trabecular mandibular bone, in this way, it is possible to observe osteoporosis clue in patients of both sex, using panoramic radiograph for analysis. The results of this study showed statistical difference between men and women considering the bone trabecular measures (p<0.05), but it was not found statistical difference between the sides in each analyzed group (p>0.05).
