Three new species of Leptohyphes Eaton (Ephemeroptera: Leptohyphidae) from Colombia Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Molineri,Carlos; Zúñiga,María del Carmen; Ramos,Blanca C.; Giraldo,Lina P.; Cardona,William.
ABSTRACT Three new species of Leptohyphes Eaton, 1882 (Ephemerotera: Leptohyphidae) are described, diagnosed and illustrated from nymphs collected in Colombia. Geographical ranges and ecological notes relating important environmental variables are given for each species. Leptohyphes andina sp. nov. is characterized by: forefemur length / maximum width 1.8-1.9, fore and hind margin of middle and hind femora with strong spine-like setae on elevated sockets, femoral surface covered by small pale spots, apex of femora with anterior margin roundly projected distally, tarsal claw only with 3-4 marginal denticles, pronotum with triangular lateral projection, hind wing pads present in female, gill formula 3/5/5/5/2, gill V with ventral extension on dorsal lamella....

An estimate of the potential number of mayfly species (Ephemeroptera, Insecta) still to be described in Brazil Rev. Bras. entomol.
Cardoso,Mylena Neves; Shimano,Yulie; Nabout,João Carlos; Juen,Leandro.
ABSTRACTThis study reviewed the data on the Brazilian Ephemeroptera, based on the studies published before July, 2013, estimated the number of species still to be described, and identified which regions of the country have been the subject of least research. More than half the species are known from the description of only one developmental stage, with imagoes being described more frequently than nymphs. The Brazilian Northeast is the region with the weakest database. Body size affected description rates, with a strong tendency for the larger species to be described first. The estimated number of unknown Brazilian species was accentuated by the fact that so few species have been described so far. The steep slope of the asymptote and the considerable...

Ephemeroptera (Insecta) from Pernambuco State, northeastern Brazil Rev. Bras. entomol.
Lima,Lucas R. C.; Salles,Frederico F.; Pinheiro,Ulisses.
The first list of the species of Ephemeroptera from Pernambuco State, Northeastern Brazil, is presented. The survey was based on collections from numerous rivers and streams of 17 counties. A total of five families, 28 genera, and 38 species were recorded, including 22 genera and 31 species newly recorded from Pernambuco State. Moreover, Farrodes tepui Domínguez, Molineri & Peters, 1996, Lisetta ernsti Thomas & Dominique, 2005, and Simothraulopsis (Maculognathus) sabalo Kluge, 2007 are recorded for the first time to Brazil.

First records of four species of the genus Americabaetis (Ephemeroptera: Baetidae) for Argentina Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Bardavid,Sofía; Nieto,Carolina.
The family Baetidae is the most diverse family into the Order Ephemeroptera and it has an almost cosmopolitan distribution. The genus Americabaetis Kluge was described in 1992 and actually it has 19 known species with a clearly Neotropical distribution. Although this genus is very common in lotic aquatic systems, it has been poorly studied in Argentina. Herein, we report four species for this country originally described from Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay: A. labiosus Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, A. longetron Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, A. mecistognathus Salles & Raimundi, A. titthion Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty.
