ABSTRACT Semi-mechanical and mechanical harvesting methods may influence the content of impurities in harvested sugarcane. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of three mechanical methods of sugarcane harvesting: one semi-mechanical, and two mechanical ones - self-performed and outsourced, during three working shifts. As quality indicators, both mineral and vegetal impurities were accounted. About 50 random samples were collected in the studied area during 35 harvest days and in three working shifts, for each harvesting method. Mineral impurities showed similar behavior for both self-performed and outsourced mechanical harvesting, thus displaying a low variability. On the other hand, vegetal impurities showed to be unstable for all three shifts.... |

SUMMARY: Simple, low-cost grain harvesting device that substitutes almost all the mechanisms in a conventional harvester. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION: The object of the invention is a grain harvest... |

The Florida Department of Citrus (DOC) is spending public funds to register an abscission agent compound (CMNP) with the U.S. EPA as part of its effort to enhance the private benefits associated with citrus mechanical harvesting. An abscission agent application should allow existing harvesting equipment to operate through the entire late season orange harvesting period. When estimating costs and benefits through 2018, the net present value of mechanically harvesting 25,000 acres is between $60.8 and $79.9 million, depending on price, production, and fruit loss scenarios. For any of the scenarios considered, the discounted value of abscission benefits with mechanical harvesting fully pays for the costs of registration and development within four years. |

ABSTRACT In super-mechanized coffee harvesting system, all operations are performed mechanically. In order to improve the logistics of mechanized agricultural operations, the knowledge on the variables that affect the operational performance can generate models to accurately estimate these parameters. The use of response surface methodology (RSM) allows to verify the influence of different independent variables and the generated response to allow for a great value. This study aimed to verify, using RSM, the influence of speed, mean length of rows and the slope of the areas on the operational performance parameters in different mechanized operations in coffee production, such as: harvest, sweeping and gathering. The results show that the slope directly... |
