| The IOC Regional Committee for the Co-operative Investigation in the North and Central Western Indian Ocean, at its Second Session (Arusha, Tanzania, 7-11 December 1987), welcomed the outline of a project proposal entitled Regional Co-operation in Scientific Information Exchange in the Western Indian Ocean region (RECOSCIX-WIO).It called on the IOC and Unesco to seek the extrabudgetary funding required for the implementation of Phase I.
