Aulonopygus aculeatus, a new millipede for the fauna of the Netherlands (Diplopoda: Spirostreptida: Spirostreptidae) Aulonopygus aculeatus Attems, 1914 was found for the first time in the Netherlands in the elephant house in the Zoo of Rotterdam in 2001. This is the first record of this species outside of Africa. Adults and juveniles as well as copulating specimens were found in 2001 and 2006, showing that is has become established at this location. Polydesmus coriaceus Porat, 1871 was found for the first time in the western part of the Netherlands, in the ‘Poelbos’ near Goes in 2007 (province of Zeeland). This is the third confirmed record for this species in the Netherlands. Old records of P. coriaceus proved to belong to P. inconstans. One male was found between litter on the bottom of a dried up ditch in a deciduous forest on clay soil. The presence of P. coriaceus in the province of Zeeland in forests close to the Belgium border is briefly discussed.
