METHODOLOGY EVALUATION OF PIN MICRORELIEF METER REA
Melo,Mariana C.; Tavares,Laene F.; Oliveira,Thaísa F.; Silva,Rodrigo R.; Carvalho Filho,Alberto.
ABSTRACT: The effects of natural weathering and different managements performed in agriculture may best be understood by studying the soil roughness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the optimization of the use of pin microrelief meter, an instrument used to determine the soil surface roughness, as the number of readings collected over traditional methodology proposed in the bibliography. The study was conducted in Rio Paranaiba (MG), in a Haplustox soil. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 2×3 factorial design with four replications. There were combined two types of primary tillage: conventional tillage with disc plow (PCAD) and harrow (PCGA), and three amounts of readings (100, 200, and 300 reading points) sampled in each...

Immunohistochemical Studies on Duodenum, Spleen and Liver in Mice: Distribution of Ferroportin and Prohepcidin in an Inflammation Model International Journal of Morphology
D´Anna,María Cecilia; Giorgi,Gisela; Roque,Marta Elena.
Duodenum, spleen and liver have a crucial role in iron balance on the whole organism and are the major sites of Ferroportin (FPN) expression. Specific regulations between FPN and hepcidin are responsible for changes seen in physiopathological conditions such as inflammation. We studied in vivo effects of turpentine oil-induced acute inflammation on FPN expression, and its relation with prohepcidin and iron mobilization. Immunohistochemical procedures were performed using rabbit anti-mouse FPN and prohepcidin antibodies with goat-labeled polymer-HRP anti-rabbit (DAB) as secondary antibody. Plasma and tissular iron were also studied. Our results showed a notable expression and redistribution of duodenal FPN to basolateral membrane in turpentine-treated mice,...

Smallholder dairy farmers’ group development in Bhutan: Strengthening rural communities through group mobilization Thai Agricultural
Thubten Sonam; Niwat Martwanna.
This paper describes the mobilization processes of Smallholder Dairy Farmers’ Groups (SDFG) and its relevance to the process of community development in an integrated crop livestock forestry farming system in Bhutan. The group approach aims to ensure effective delivery of dairy services for strengthening collective self-help capacity, promoting self-reliance, group cooperation and solidarity of poor rural farmers through collective action. Data for the study were generated through focus group interviews and workshop organized for those stakeholders involved in formation and development of dairy farmers’ groups. The study found that the group mobilization processes demanded additional competences in managing the different stages of group formation and...
