Effect of moxifloxacin administration on pharmacokinetics of tolfenamic acid in rats BABT
Patel,Satish D.; Sadariya,Kamlesh A.; Gothi,Anil K.; Patel,Urvesh D.; Gohil,Pradhuman A.; Jain,Mukul R.; Bhavsar,Shailesh K.; Thaker,Aswin M..
Pharmacokinetics of tolfenamic acid as a single drug (4 mg/kg, intramuscularly) and its co-administration with moxifloxacin (5 mg/kg, intramuscularly) in wistar rats were studied. The plasma drug concentration of tolfenamic acid was assayed by LC-MS/MS. Following intramuscular administration of tolfenamic acid as single drug and in combination with moxifloxacin in male rats, the mean values of observed peak plasma drug concentration (Cmax), area under plasma drug concentration-time curve (AUC(0-¥) ), volume of distribution (Vz), half-life (t½) and clearance (Cl) were 4111.44 ± 493.15 and 3837.69 ± 351.83 ng/ml, 20280.77 ± 3501.67 and 15229.18 ± 678.80 ng.h/ml, 822.17 ± 115.38 and 1249.64 ± 139.52 ml, 2.59 ± 0.16 and 3.27 ± 0.32 hr, and 218.39 ± 25.47 and...

The efficacy of moxifloxacin-based triple therapy in treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials BJMBR
Zhang,G.; Zou,J.; Liu,F.; Bao,Z.; Dong,F.; Huang,Y.; Yin,S..
Recent evidence shows that moxifloxacin could exert an antimicrobial effect against Helicobacter pylori in both in vitroand in vivo models. To systematically evaluate whether moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy could improve eradication rates and reduce side effects in first-line or second-line anti-H. pyloritreatment, eligible articles were identified by searches of electronic databases. We included all randomized trials comparing moxifloxacin-based triple therapy with standard triple or quadruple therapy during H. pylori eradication treatment. Statistical analysis was performed with Review Manager 5.0.10. Subanalysis/sensitivity analysis was also performed. We identified seven randomized trials (n=1263). Pooled H. pylori eradication rates were 79.03%...

Penetration of 0.3% ciprofloxacin, 0.3% ofloxacin, and 0.5% moxifloxacin into the cornea and aqueous humor of enucleated human eyes BJMBR
Silva,G.C.M.; Jabor,V.A.P.; Bonato,P.S.; Martinez,E.Z.; Faria-e-Sousa,S.J..
We aimed to quantify the penetration of ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, and moxifloxacin into the cornea and aqueous humor of cadaver eyes. A total of 60 enucleated eyes, not eligible for corneal transplantation, were divided into three groups and immersed in commercial solutions of 0.3% ciprofloxacin, 0.3% ofloxacin, or 0.5% moxifloxacin for 10 min. Whole corneas and samples of aqueous humor were then harvested and frozen, and drug concentrations analyzed by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The mean corneal concentration of moxifloxacin was twice as high as ofloxacin, and the latter was twice as high as ciprofloxacin. The mean concentration of moxifloxacin in the aqueous humor was four times higher than the other antibiotics, and the mean...

Validated microbiological and HPLC methods for the determination of moxifloxacin in pharmaceutical preparations and human plasma BJM
Abdelaziz,Ahmed A.; Elbanna,Tarek E.; Gamaleldeen,Noha M..
The article presents a comparison between microbiological and high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) assays for quantification of moxifloxacin in tablets, ophthalmic solutions and human plasma. The microbiological method employed a cylinder-plate agar diffusion assay using a strain of Esherichia coli ATCC 25922 as the test organism and phosphate buffer (pH8) as the diluent. The calibration curves were linear (R²> 0.98) over a concentration range of 0.125 to 16 µgml-1. The within day and between days precisions were < 4.47% and < 6.39% respectively. Recovery values were between 89.4 and 110.2%. The HPLC assay used Hypersil® BDS C18 reversed phase column (250×4.6 mm, 5µm) with a mobile phase comprising 20 mM ammonium dihydrogen...
