This study was proposed to select minimum descriptors to the characterization of accessions of Capsicum spp. from Embrapa Hortaliças germplasm bank, which are characterized mainly by qualitative data. From this collection, 893 (420 C. annuum, 106 C. baccatum, 307 C. chinense and 60 C. frutescens) were considered because they were completely characterized by 56 morphological descriptors. The statistical treatment was performed by factorial multiple correspondence analysis, combined with estimation of matrices of genetic dissimilarity among accessions for multicategoric data. Using the method of fuzzy cognitive mapping, this study explores stakeholder attitudes toward offshore wind energy. The survey was conducted with local communities of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, where an offshore wind farm is under development. It was used to record the stakeholder perceptions of social, ecological, and economic impacts and the expression of expected compensation for negative impacts. Distribution and interaction among the data were analyzed through multiple correspondence analysis. Our study illustrates a gap between positive impacts associated with sustainable development perceived at the national level and more negative impacts perceived by local communities. The objective of this work was to select the most informative morphoagronomic descriptors for cassava (Manihot esculenta) germplasm and to evaluate the ability of different methods to select the descriptors. Ninety-five accessions were characterized using 51 morphoagronomic descriptors. Data were subjected to a multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), whose information was used in the following four methods of descriptor selection: reverse order of the descriptor for the pth factorial axis of the MCA (Jolliffe); sequential, multiple correspondence analysis (SMCA); mean of the contribution orders of the descriptor in the first three factorial axes (C3PA); and C3PA method weighted by the respective eigenvalues of the full analysis (C3PAWeig).
