Phytase Superdosing in the Diet of Lightweight Replacement Pullets: Performance, Organ Biometry and Bone Characteristics Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Sena,TL; Leite,SCB; Farias,MRS; Abreu,CG; Freitas,ER; Costa,AC.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two types of phytases (the 1st produced from Escherichia coli and the 2nd from Aspergillus oryzae) with different dosages (300 and 900 Unit Phytase or FTU) on performance, organ biometry and bone quality of replacement pullets in the period of 8 to 17 weeks of age. A total of 288 Hy-Line White laying hens were used at 8 weeks of age. A completely randomized design was adopted in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme, totaling 4 treatments with 8 replicates of 9 birds each. Performance, biometric variables and bone characteristics were evaluated. There was no significant interaction between the factors for any of the evaluated variables. The conversion and the accumulated consumption were influenced...

The effects of an osmoregulator, carbohydrates and polyol on maturation and germination of ‘Golden THB’ papaya somatic embryos Anais da ABC (AABC)
CHAGAS,KRISTHIANO; CIPRIANO,JAMILE L.D.; LOPES,JOSÉ CARLOS; SCHMILDT,EDILSON R.; OTONI,WAGNER C.; ALEXANDRE,RODRIGO S..
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of osmoregulators and carbohydrates on the maturation and germination of somatic embryos of papaya ‘Golden THB’. Cotyledon explants from papaya seedlings germinated in vitro on basal MS medium were cultured on somatic embryogenesis induction medium (IM) containing MS salts, myo-inositol, sucrose, agar and p-chlorophenoxyacetic acid. After 50 days, embryogenic calli were transferred onto maturation media (MM) for 45 additional days. For experiment 1, a MS-based medium supplemented with abscisic acid, activated charcoal and concentrations of PEG 6000 (0; 40; 50; 60 and 70 g L-1) was used, whereas for experiment 2 malt extract concentrations (0; 0.1; 0.2; 0.3 and 0.4 g L-1) were assessed. The normal cotyledonary...

Myo-inositol content in pteridophytes and the isolation and characterization of L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthase from Diplopterygium glaucum Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Chhetri,D. R.; Mukherjee,A. K.; Adhikari,J..
Myo-inositol is involved in normal growth and development of all living organisms and L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthase (MIPS; EC: 5.5.1.4) is responsible for its de novo synthesis. This enzyme has been reported for a number of life forms including plants, animals and bacteria. In the present study free myo-inositol has been detected in the common pteridophytes found in the Darjeeling Himalayas and the enzyme, L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthase has been partially purified from Diplopterygium glaucum (Thunb.) Nakai. A crude homogenate from the reproductive pinnules of D. glaucum was subjected to streptomycin sulphate precipitation and 0-70% ammonium sulphate fractionation followed by successive chromatography through DEAE-cellulose, Hexylagarose and...

L-myo-InositoL-1- phosphate synthase from bryophytes: purification and characterization of the enzyme from Lunularia cruciata (L.) Dum Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Chhetri,Dhani Raj; Yonzone,Sachina; Tamang,Sanjeeta; Mukherjee,Asok Kumar.
L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthase (MIPS; EC: 5.5.1.4) catalyzes the conversion of D-glucose-6-phosphate to 1L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate, the rate limiting step in the biosynthesis of all inositol containing compounds. Myo-inositol and its derivatives are implicated in membrane biogenesis, cell signaling, salinity stress tolerance and a number of other metabolic reactions in different organisms. This enzyme has been reported from a number of bacteria, fungi, plants and animals. In the present study some bryophytes available in the Eastern Himalaya have been screened for free myo-inositol content. It is seen that Bryum corinatum, a bryopsid shows the highest content of free myo-inositol among the species screened. Subsequently , the enzyme MIPS has been...
