| In de collectie van het Leidsche Museum bevindt zich een Centronotus fasciatus Bl. & Sch., volgens de opgave op het etiket afkomstig van de Hollandsche kust. De kenmerken van dit individu, dat 230 mm. lang is, zijn: De hoogte van het langwerpige lichaam gaat 9 7/12 en de lengte van den, evenals het lichaam zijdelings plat gedrukten, kleinen kop 10 5/11 maal in de lichaamslengte, de staartvin inbegrepen. De lage, lange rugvin begint boven den aanvang der borstvinnen en loopt tot aan de staartvin; zij heeft 89 stekels, die bij dit individu de abnormaliteit vertoonen niet allen verhard te zijn. | The emperor moth Saturnia pavonia in the southern part of the Netherlands: distribution, phenology and food (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) Saturnia pavonia is a large and beautiful moth. It was thought that the species was becoming rare in the Netherlands. In the period 1986-2006 the species was surveyed in the province of Noord-Brabant and the northern and middle part of the province of Limburg. It was shown that the emperor moth was present in 40% of the 250 investigated 5 km squares, especially on heath land and in forests. It became clear that the species, however conspicuous in appearance, has a largely hidden lifestyle. Although the males can be seen flying over heath land, most are hidden in the vegetation. | Otiorhynchus apenninus, a new weevil for the Netherlands (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Otiorhynchus apenninus (= O. salicicola) is reported for the first time from the Netherlands. The species was collected in a garden at Hoofddorp (Noord-Holland), Rijswijk (Zuid-Holland) and in and around a garden at Heemstede (Noord-Holland). The species appeared to be present at the locality at Heemstede for several successive years, despite an attempt to eradicate it. We therefore conclude that O. apenninus must be considered as established in the Netherlands. Some data are presented on the European distribution and host plants of the species. Illustrations of the male and female genitalia are provided. |

| Cylisticus convexus, a rare synanthropic woodlouse in The Netherlands (Crustacea: Isopoda: Cylisticidae) Until recently, the occurrence of Cylisticus convexus (De Geer, 1778) in the Netherlands was uncertain. The only certain old record dates from March 1927, when the species was collected at the coal-shed of the Zoological Museum at Amsterdam. During the last years, two specimens have been collected on semi-natural sites. Both were found on a dike, one near Everdingen, in the province of Gelderland, and one near Ritthem, in the province of Zeeland. These are the first records of C. convexus in the field. | Interesting records of beetles in The Netherlands (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Nitidulidae, Dermestidae) Tachyporus quadriscopulatus Pandellé, 1869 has been recorded for the second time in the Netherlands at Arcen and Velden, province of Limburg. After 27 years, a third record of Carpophilus marginellus Motschulsky, 1858 can be reported from St. Geertruid, in the southern part of the province of Limburg. One specimen was found outdoors, in a wood. One specimen of Anthrenocerus australis Hope, 1843 was also found outdoors, in Oost- Maarland also in southern Limburg, sitting on a flower in a meadow. |

| The fieldcricket Gryllus campestris in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Orthoptera) In 1997 and 2000 some fieldcrickets (Gryllus campestris) were observed in a grassland within a forest (Clingse Bos) in Zeeuws- Vlaanderen. These are the first records since the 1950’s in this area. Because no fieldcrickets were observed in 1998 and 1999 it is thought that the animals have migrated from a nearby population just across the Belgian border. The topsoil of the grassland has been removed locally to expose the sandy soil, to increase the chances for the fieldcricket to establish a population. Together with the rediscovery of a population in Schouwen the future for the fieldcricket in the southwest of the Netherlands looks a bit more promising. |

| Distribution and ecology of the chironomid Glyptotendipes ospeli in the Netherlands (Diptera: Chironomidae) This paper adresses the ecology, biology and distribution of the larvae of the chironomid Glyptotendipes ospeli Contreras-Lichtenberg, 1999. No information is available on the ecology and biology of the adults. Glyptotendipes ospeli was described in 1999 after larvae collected in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) had been reared to adults. There is only one record from outside the Netherlands: a larva collected in Pripyat River (Belarus). In the Netherlands, larvae of this species have so far been recorded on 36 localities. | De eerste waarnemingen van de pseudoschorpioen Larca lata in Nederland (Pseudoscorpiones: Garypoidea: Larcidae) In dit artikel wordt Larca lata (Hansen, 1884) voor het eerst voor Nederland vermeld. In 1968 werd een vrouwtje van deze soort gevonden tussen braakballen van een kerkuil, op de zolder van een kerk in Vorchten (Gelderland). Op dezelfde plaats werd 1,5 jaar later een mannetje verzameld. De identiteit van de dieren bleef lange tijd ongewis. Pas later bleken de dieren tot Larca lata te behoren, toen de grote variatie binnen deze soort duidelijk werd (Gardini 1983, Johnson & Legg 1996). Omdat de soort zo variabel is, wordt in dit artikel een uitgebreide beschrijving van de Nederlandse exemplaren gegeven. |

| Beschermingsplan moerassprinkhaan & zompsprinkhaan in Gelderland Sprinkhanen en krekels horen tot de best bekende insecten van Nederland. Sommige soorten sprinkhanen breiden zich in rap tempo uit (sikkelsprinkhaan, zuidelijk spitskopje) en recent zijn zelfs weer nieuwe soorten voor de Nederlandse fauna gevonden (lichtgroene sabelsprinkhaan, boomkrekel). Het lijkt daarmee goed te gaan met de Nederlandse sprinkhanen, maar tegenover de nieuwkomers staan diverse soorten die bedreigd zijn of zelfs al uit Nederland zijn verdwenen.
