Este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar a distribuição de formas não-trocáveis de potássio, em frações texturais de um Latossolo cultivado com bananeira, por dois anos, em dois regimes hídricos (parcelas principais), e doses de potássio (0, 300, 600 e 900 kg há-1) (subparcelas), seguindo delineamento em blocos casualizados, com parcelas subdivididas. Verificou-se que os maiores teores de potássio (trocável e não-trocável) estão contidos nas frações mais finas: argila e silte. Neste sistema de cultivo e com a aplicação dos adubos na superfície, a movimentação do nutriente, nas camadas estudadas, esteve associada à presença e movimentação da água no perfil do solo. ABSTRACT: Ruzigrass (Urochola ruziziensis) has a large capacity to take up K from the soil, including non-exchangeable forms, and can play an important role in nutrient cycling in integrated production systems. ABSTRACT Ferralsols ( Latossolos ) should contain few or no 2:1 clay minerals and have low potassium (K) contents, and consequently low levels of non-exchangeable K forms are expected. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the mineral nutrition and the response of physic nut to potassium fertilization as well as to assess whether the species can absorb K from the non-exchangeable soil fraction. The study was conducted in a greenhouse, in randomized blocks, and with four repetitions. Physic nut plants were cultivated in plastic recipients filled with 50 dm³ of a Dark Red Latosol fertilized with rates of 0, 40, 80, 120 and 160 mg K dm-3 of soil.
