Timely detection of water stress in agricultural crops is important. In this paper, a smart classification algorithm was developed to detect water stress in tomato plants that were grown in the greenhouse. During the growth period, thermal and visible light images were acquired from the canopy tops in two states: (1) plants in normal conditions; and (2) plants under water stress. Images were obtained using a camera that recorded simultaneous frames of thermal and visible (red, green, and blue (RGB)) features. Based on these features, 22 parameters were defined and applied to classify the image frames. In order to develop an efficient algorithm, principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to optimize the classifying of parameters. For normalizing the... |

The aim of this review was to evaluate the importance of the real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) as a technique for mRNA expression analysis in different tissues. Real-time PCR is widely used for quantification of mRNA levels and is a fundamental tool for basic research, molecular medicine and biotechnology.Genes of references are expressed in a wide variety of tissues and cells with minimal variations in their expression levels, and thus are used to normalize data of mRNA quantification. Software programs, such as geNorm, BestKeeper and NormFinder, have been developed to perform the normalization of data, which help to choose the most stable reference gene. Several genes, such as GAPDH, β-actin, β-tubulin, PGK, UBQ, RPL-19 and 18S rRNA have been suggested as... |

ABSTRACT Real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) is an important technique to analyze differences in gene expression due to its sensitivity, accuracy, and specificity. However, before analyzing the expression of the target gene, it is necessary to identify and evaluate the stability of candidate reference genes for the proper normalization. This study aimed at evaluating the stability of candidate reference genes in order to identify the most appropriate genes for the normalization of the transcription in rice and red rice in competition under different nitrogen levels, as well as to demonstrate the effectiveness of the reference gene selected for the expression of the cytosolic ascorbate peroxidase (OsAPX2). Eleven candidate... |
