Study on changes of starch viscosity and cooking quality of northeastern rainfed lowland rice lines aims to gather basic information on grain quality for each promising line in order to plan for further product development. In 2012, the experiment was conducted on 6 promising lines, which include 5 non-glutinous lines, i.e. UBN03007-47-7-9-7-80-54, UBN03007-47-7-7-26-35-19, UBN03005-6-3-26-10-21-27, UBN02123-50(R)-B-3, UBN03005-6-3-26-10-49-10 and 1 glutinous line; RGD05282-3-3. After harvesting, paddy of each line was dried to 14% moisture content and then kept in granary storage. Samples were taken once a month and analyzed for grain chemical quality and starch viscosity. The results showed that, after 8-month storage, there was no change in amylose... |

The Atlantic Forest is one of the priority areas for conservation in the world, since exhibits an overwhelming biodiversity of species. Among this biome stands the biogeographic unit located north of San Francisco River, which extends from the state of Alagoas to Rio Grande do Norte. On this portion of Atlantic Forest some isolated fragments of humid forests can be found, inserted in the arid Caatinga, known as Brejos de Altitude or Brejos Nordestinos. There is a total of 43 Brejos distributed in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba and Pernambuco and with the exception of some humid enclaves in the state of Ceará, the snake fauna of these areas are poorly known. Thus, our aim is to evaluate the current status of the snakes that inhabited... |

Abstract Leptophlebiidae is the family with the most diversity of species and wide distribution in the Southern Hemisphere. There are 95 species of Leptophlebiidae recorded in Brazil, but for the state of Bahia there are only 21 species. A check list and new records of Leptophlebiidae (Ephemeroptera) are presented to the State of Bahia. A total of 16 genera and 40 species of Leptophlebiidae were identified on this study. The species Fittkaulus cururuensis, Hylister obliquus, Miroculis (atroari) duckensis and Miroculis (Ommaethus) froehlichi are reported for the first time to the State of Bahia, increasing the number of Leptophlebiidae species from 21 to 25. Now, the Bahia is one of the states with the largest number of Leptophlebiidae species records,... |
