Sources de donnees meteo-oceaniques pour l'ingenierie marine ArchiMer
Olagnon, Michel; Becq, Françoise; Charriez, Patrick.
To design offshore structures, to prepare operations at sea and unusual transportations on marine routes, to assess safety levels with respect to marine climate, one needs practical data describing the wave, wind and current conditions that may occur. This essential information is unfortunately very seldom readily available exactly for the geographical area of interest. Where to look for it, how to evaluate and choose amongst what one may find, how to get aware of its adequation and drawbacks for the projected use, whom to call for help, as many questions to which this report is expected to bring some answers. Engineers in charge of coastal or offshore projects, logistics managers implied in sea transportations, underwriters, planners for shore equipments...

Gullfaks C offshore operation: Use of an hybrid team in subsea construction work: The Gullfaks "C" and oseberg north projects (use of the ROV). ArchiMer
Rougier, R.
Installation and tie-in using tig automatic hyperbaric welding of 3 expansion loops to the Gullfaks "C" gravity base platform at 220 meters in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Operation performed from a dynamically positioned diving support vessel using divers and construction ROV during the summer 1989. Facing the technological challenge created by the deep diving aspects, the technical difficulties of doing welding operation at this depth, and the tight commercial constraints, a review of the tasks was conducted to optimize and reduce the offshore time, leading to innovations in the procedures selected to perform the work: Use of a working ROV, assisted by an observation vehicle, to carry out subsea tasks traditionally reserved for construction...

Mechanical behaviour of gas-charged fine sediments: model formulation and calibration ArchiMer
Sultan, Nabil; Garziglia, Sebastien.
Multi-phase fluid conditions encountered in geotechnical and geo-environmental problems have led to the development of models that account for the influence of gas solubility and compressibility on the behaviour of soils of various grain sizes. Yet, no consideration has been given to damages related to the nucleation and growth of gas bubbles in fine-grained soils. The purpose of this paper is to present a Cam Clay based constitutive model extended to incorporate such detrimental effects on gassy soils. This is achieved by deriving an analytical expression relating the preconsolidation pressure to a damage parameter dependent on the gas content. That expression is coupled to a deviatoric yield surface accounting for inherent and stress-induced anisotropy....
