PCR-RFLP as a useful tool for diagnosis of invasive mycoses in a healthcare facility in the North of Brazil Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Sousa,Diego Rayan Teixeira de; Santos,Carla Silvana da Silva; Wanke,Bodo; Silva Júnior,Roberto Moreira da; Santos,Marcelo Cordeiro dos; Cruz,Kátia Santana; Monte,Rossicléia Lins; Nocker,Andreas; Souza,João Vicente Braga de.
Background The incidence of invasive mycoses is increasing worldwide. PCR-RFLP was applied to the identification of 10 reference strains and 90 cultures of agents of invasive mycoses. In addition, the new approach was applied to detect fungal agents in 120 biological samples (blood, cerebrospinal fluid and bone marrow). PCR-RFLP results were compared with the ones obtained with conventional methods (culture, microscopy, and biochemical testing). Results The assays carried out with the reference strains (Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Candida guilliermondii, Cryptococcus neoformans, Cryptococcus gattii and Histoplasma capsulatum), demonstrated that the RFLP profiles were correctly predicted by the in silico...

Root Proteomic Analysis of Grapevine Rootstocks Inoculated with Rhizophagus irregularis and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. herbemontis Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Vilvert,Elisa; Costa,Murilo Dalla; Cangahuala-Inocente,Gabriela Claudia; Lovato,Paulo Emílio.
ABSTRACT Grapevine decline and death caused by the pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. herbemontis is among the main phytosanitary problem for viticulture in southern Brazil. The eradication of infected plants is presently the most common procedure for disease control in vineyards. Inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi is an option to reduce or neutralize the negative impacts of soil pathogenic microorganisms, but the mechanisms of plant response involved in this process are not yet completely elucidated. In order to better understand these mechanisms, an experiment was carried out to identify proteins related to plant defence induced by the mycorrhizal fungus after infection with the pathogenic fungus. We used the grapevine rootstocks SO4...
