Heat stress negatively afects livestock, with undesirable efects on animals? production and reproduction. Temperature and humidity index (THI) is a climatic variable used worldwide to study the efect of heat stress on farm animals. Temperature and humidity data can be obtained in Brazil through the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET), but complete data may not be available due to temporary failures on weather stations. An alternative to obtaining meteorological data is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Prediction of Worldwide Energy Resources (NASA POWER) satellite-based weather system. We aimed to compare THI estimates obtained from INMET weather stations and NASA POWER meteorological information sources using Pearson correlation and...

Associação entre medidas morfométricas e ultrassonograficas e a produção de leite de caprinos. Repositório Alice
GALVÃO, M. A. A..

Dry fruit as source of fungal contaminants or functional compounds? Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
HARTWIG,Naralice; FERREIRA,Cláudia Fetter Jorge; COLAZZO,Carolina Carvalho; KUPSKI,Larine; BADIALE-FURLONG,Eliana.
Abstract This study evaluated the role of dry fruits as a source of fungal contaminants or functional compounds. Dry apple, apricot, candied fruits, prune, and white and black raisin were evaluated regarding patulin and ergosterol content, centesimal composition, pH, acidity, pectin, and phenolic profile. The ergosterol was detected in 38% of the samples and patulin (PAT) in 89%, the apricot samples stood out most by contaminant level. Apricot, candied fruit, and prunes presented moisture values beyond the other dry fruits. The pH ranged from 3.8 to 4.6; acidity from 0.1 to 1.0%; sugar content from 1.7 to 5.5%; and levels of soluble and insoluble pectin from 1.6 to 5.1% and 10.9% to 27.3%, respectively. The apples showed a higher content of free phenolic...

Partial correlation analysis in the study of morphogenesis and herbage accumulation in Panicum maximum cv. ‘Tanzânia’ Ciência Rural
Braz,Thiago Gomes dos Santos; Martuscello,Janaina Azevedo; Santos,Manoel Eduardo Rozalino; Pereira,Vinícius Valim.
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate, through partial correlation analysis, the degree of association between herbage accumulation and morphogenetic traits of ‘Tanzania’ grass (Panicum maximum Jacq.) defoliated with 95% of light interception and fertilized with nitrogen, under different planting densities. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete design with 12 treatments and two replicates, in a 4 × 3 factorial arrangement consisting of four nitrogen rates (0, 80, 160, and 320kg ha-1 Yr-1) and three planting densities (9, 25, and 49 plants m-2). Harvests were performed at 25cm above the soil, when the plots intercepted 95% of the incident light. The simple correlation coefficients between herbage accumulation and leaf and...

Phenotypic correlation between leaf characters and physical and chemical aspects of cv. Vitória pineapple fruit Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Küster,Ivanildo Schmith; Alexandre,Rodrigo Sobreira; Arantes,Sara Dousseau; Schmildt,Edilson Romais Schmildt; Arantes,Lucio de Oliveira; Klem,Dayane Littig Barker.
Abstract By considering the few studies related to pineapple cv. Vitória, to know the relationships between the physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits, and they with the “D” leaf, is fundamental. The objective of this work was to evaluate the relationships between “D” leaf, with the physical and chemical characteristics of fruits of pineapple cv. Vitória, under the edaphoclimatic conditions in the North of the State of Espírito Santo. The experiment was carried out in a complete randomized block design in split-plot arrangement with four replications. The data obtained from 433 individually evaluated fruits were analyzed, as it follows: 84 at planting in July and induction at 8 months; 98 at planting in July and induction at 10 months; 84 at...
