| ABSTRACT Lutzomyia intermedia (Diptera: Psychodidae) features as one of the main vectors that are involved in the transmission of American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) in the Neotropical region. However, genetic studies involving this taxon are still incipient and important for understanding the level of variability of different populations, their role, and implications as vectors. | El estudio de los insectos asociados a la epidemiología de la leishmaniasis, en la costa Caribe colombiana, se ha concentrado en los departamentos de Sucre y Córdoba, por consiguiente existe un escaso conocimiento de la fauna de flebotomíneos del resto de la región. En la presente nota se presentan cuatro nuevos registros de Lutzomyia spp., para el departamento de Cesar. Los insectos fueron colectados con dos trampas de luz tipo CDC, equipadas con LED de color azul, en el Balneario Hurtado de la ciudad de Valledupar, Cesar. | RESUMEN Uno de los focos de leishmaniasis más importante de Colombia está en Los Montes de María, Departamento de Bolívar, específicamente en El Carmen de Bolívar. A la fecha están registradas 19 especies del género Lutzomyia, en este departamento, algunas con antecedentes como vectores de Leishmania spp. La presente nota informa la abundancia y la diversidad de la flebotominofauna en la zona rural de El Carmen de Bolívar. | The inventories on sand flies are usually conducted for a long period in leishmaniasis-endemic regions. Thus, there is little data on the sand fly fauna in areas where no leishmaniasis cases have been reported. Therefore, we conducted an inventory to study the sand fly fauna in the National Forest of Rio Preto (NFRP). We carried out a brief inventory by using four CDC light traps in 2009 during winter and summer. We collected 1,403 sand flies belonging to 11 genera and 22 species. As expected, we did not find in the NFRP region sand flies species that have been reported as vectors of Leishmania. | In this paper, the seasonal abundance of 25 sandfly species (1 of the Brumptomyia genus and 24 of the Lutzomyia genus) found at P1V5, municipal district of Buriticupu, Maranhão State, is discussed. The capture was carried out from 18:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., once a month, from January to December 1996. CDC light traps were set up in the forest, in the peri and intradomicile environments. Five species were only found in the rainy season (January to June), being represented by one or two individuals; eight species occurred only in the dry season (July to December) and eleven species appeared in both seasons. | Phlebotomus oliverioi Barretto & Coutinho, 1941 was originally described based only on the male holotype and has since been considered junior-synonym of Psathyromyia brasiliensis (Costa Lima, 1932). The study of the holotype of Ph. oliverioi allowed us to conclude that the head of this specimen belongs to the genus Psychodopygus and the wings, thorax and abdomen belong to a different species of Psathyromyia. Thus, Ph. oliverioi is a not valid species, and must be removed from the synonym and excluded from the provisions of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (Articles 17.2 and 23.8). | The phlebotomine sand fly fauna of the State of Minas Gerais is presented based on an extensive review of the literature. The fauna, which is a rich one, is currently known to consist of at least 93 species included in 16 genera. | An investigation of the phlebotomine sandfloy fauna in the municipality of Timóteo, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, was undertaken with New Jersey traps placed in seven neighborhoods from December 2005 to January 2006. A total of 2,289 phlebotomine sandfloy specimens were recorded. Nyssomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho) (48.1%), Nyssomyia intermedia (Lutz & Neiva) (36.8%) and Micropygomyia quinquefer (Dyar) (7.1%) were the most abundant species sampled. | O presente trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer a fauna flebotomínica na Gruta do Caboclo, localizada no Parque Nacional Cavernas do Peruaçu, MG, e associá-la ao risco de transmissão das leishmanioses. As capturas foram realizadas utilizando-se armadilhas luminosas tipo CDC, nos meses de fevereiro e março de 2003. O total de 436 flebotomíneos foi capturado, pertencendo a 14 espécies. A espécie predominante foi Lutzomyia ischnacantha Martins, Souza & Falcão, com 28,7%, seguida por L. renei (27,06%) e L. cavernicola (13,07%). | O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar as espécies de flebotomíneos capturadas com armadilha Malaise nos municípios de Divinópolis e Pedra do Indaiá, localizados em Minas Gerais. As coletas foram realizadas de novembro de 2003 a outubro de 2004. | Dada a importância de flebotomíneos na epidemiologia da leishmaniose tegumentar americana, investigou-se a preferência alimentar desses insetos em relação aos animais domésticos comumente presentes no ambiente domiciliar de áreas rurais, onde a doença é endêmica. Os flebotomíneos foram coletados com armadilhas luminosas de Falcão, instaladas em gaiolas, cada uma com um dos animais domésticos selecionados para isca (suíno, cão, coelho ou galinha). | Se registra por primera vez para el Departamento de Guainía, Colombia, la presencia del género Lutzomyia França de reconocida importancia médica. Los flebotomíneos se recolectaron mientras intentaban picar al humano en los alrededores del casco urbano del municipio de Inírida. Se identificaron taxonómicamente tres especies de Lutzomyia, incluidas L. davisi (Root), L. olmeca bicolor Fairchild & Theodor, y L. antunesi (Coutinho). Adicionalmente, Brumptomyia mesai Sherlock es citada por primera vez en el litoral Caribe Colombiano a partir de ejemplares colectados con una trampa de luz CDC modificada en la Reserva Forestal Protectora Serranía de Coraza y Montes de María, Departamento de Sucre. |

| Devido à crescente expansão da leishmaniose visceral americana (LVA) no Brasil, o presente estudo teve como objetivo identificar as espécies de flebotomíneos em áreas vulneráveis à transmissão dessa parasitose, bem como em outras sem qualquer informação sobre a presença desses dípteros no Paraná. As coletas de flebotomíneos foram realizadas em 46 localidades distribuídas em 37 municípios do Paraná, no período de março de 2004 a novembro de 2005.
