Micromicetes asociados a la corteza y madera de Podocarpus parlatorei (Podocarpaceae) en la Argentina: IX. Lophiostomataceae (Ascomycota) Darwiniana

Durante un estudio de la biodiversidad de micromicetes que crecen en la corteza y madera de Podocarpus parlatorei, se encontraron cuatro especies de Lophiostoma y una quinta especie, Sigarispora caulium. Lophiostoma punctatum posee una combinación única de caracteres morfológicos y se describe como una nueva especie. Lophiostoma macrostomum, L. quadrinucleatum, L. vicinum y Sigarispora caulium se citan por primera vez para la Argentina. Se presentan descripciones, ilustraciones, comentarios, datos de distribución geográfica, hábitat y una clave dicotómica para las especies de Lophiostoma y Sigarispora conocidas sobre Podocarpus parlatorei en Argentina.

Morphological and molecular characterisation of a new anamorphic genus Cheirosporium, from freshwater in China Naturalis

Cheirosporium gen. nov. is characterised by the production of sporodochial conidiomata, semi-macronematous to macronematous conidiophores that possess several distinct sterile branches, and cheiroid, smooth-walled conidia with rhexolytic secession. The 28S rDNA and ITS rDNA operon of this taxon were amplified and sequenced. A BLAST search revealed low homology between Cheirosporium triseriale and existing sequences in public databases, supporting the hypothesis that the species is new to science. Phylogenetic analysis showed that C. triseriale groups with Dictyosporium and allied species, and nests within the Pleosporales (Dothideomycetes, Ascomycota). heirosporium is morphologically distinct from the cheirosporous genera Cheiromyces, Cheiromycina,...

Novel Paraconiothyrium species on stone fruit trees and other woody hosts Naturalis

Coniothyrium-like fungi are common wood and soil inhabitants and hyperparasites on other fungi. They belong to different fungal genera within the Pleosporales. Several isolates were obtained on wood of different Prunus species (plum, peach and nectarine) from South Africa, on Actinidia species from Italy and on Laurus nobilis from Turkey. Morphological and cultural characteristics as well as DNA sequence data (5.8S nrDNA, ITS1, ITS2, partial SSU nrDNA) were used to characterise them. Revision of agents of black-grain eumycetoma in the order Pleosporales Naturalis

Eumycetoma is a chronic fungal infection characterised by large subcutaneous masses and the presence of sinuses discharging coloured grains. The causative agents of black-grain eumycetoma mostly belong to the orders Sordariales and Pleosporales. The aim of the present study was to clarify the phylogeny and taxonomy of pleosporalean agents, viz. Madurella grisea, Medicopsis romeroi (syn.: Pyrenochaeta romeroi), Nigrograna mackinnonii (syn. ABSTRACT Here, Diaporthe myracrodruonis is introduced as new species from Brazil, isolated as endophyte from Myracrodruon urundeuva. Asterina mandaquiensis is epitypified and ilustrated for the first time. Serpula similis is reported as new to the Neotropics, while Perenniporia centrali-africana is reported for the first time as endophyte and Preussia africana as endophyte from Spondias tuberosa in Caatinga in Brazil.
