Une nouvelle espèce de Corolla (Gastéropode, Opisthobranche, Pseudothécosome, Cymbuliidae). Remarques systématiques sur les genres Cymbulia, Gleba et Corolla Naturalis
Rampal, J..
The genus Corolla includes five species, one of them new to science, Corolla cupula n. sp., from the South Atlantic Ocean, described herein. The parapodial disc is folded up on itself on its whole posterior part; its proboscis is free only along half of its length, the rest being covered by the parapodial coil. Observations on the proboscis and parapodial disc have led to comparisons between the genera of the Cymbuliidae family.

The anatomy and ultrastructure of the proboscis in Zonorhynchus-species and implications for phylogenetic relationships within the Eukalyptorhynchia Meixner, 1928 (Platyhelminthes, Rhabdocoela) OMA
De Vocht, A.J.-P.; Schockaert, E.R..
The ultrastructural morphology of the proboscis in species of the genus Zonorhynchus Karling, 1952 is investigated. The proboscis epithelia are organized in four belts. The apical cone epithelium has intra-epithelial nuclei, and the distal belt of the sheath epithelium is formed by numerous cells lacking a distinct pattern. Multiciliary receptors are lacking. The diversity in ultrastructural data on the proboscis is used to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships within the Cicerinidae and Eukalyptorhynchia. A bipartite cone epithelium as found in Zonorhynchus-species is a common feature for all eukalyptorhynch species investigated. A syncytial basal cone epithelium is a synapomorphic character for all species except...

Noctuidae moths occurring in grape orchards in Serra Gaúcha, Brazil and their relation to fruit-piercing Rev. Bras. entomol.
Zenker,Maurício Moraes; Botton,Marcos; Teston,José Augusto; Specht,Alexandre.
There is no study aiming to investigate if Noctuidae moths are responsible for piercing cultivated fruits in South America. This research aims to survey noctuid moths and list the species with mouth-parts (proboscis) morphology that suggest the capacity to cause damages to grape orchards in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Catches were carried out weekly from late November 2007 to late March 2008 (fructification period) using light traps and McPhail traps in three grape orchards in the region of Serra Gaúcha. The catches resulted in 187 taxa, with 149 identified at the specific level and 38 at genus level. The proboscises of representative taxa were removed and analyzed under stereomicroscope and scan electron microscope. It was verified that only...

Aspectos morfológicos da probóscide de Muscoidea (Diptera, Muscomorpha) Zoologia
Coelho,Sônia Maria Prevedello.
A study comparing the morphology of the proboscis of the following muscoid species is presented: Scatophaga stercoraria (Linnaeus, 1758) (Scatophagidae), Fannia canicularis (Linnaeus, 1761) (Fanniidae), Taenomyia auricollis Stein, 1918 (Anthomyiidae) and Phaonia valida (Harris, 1780) (Muscidae). Comparisons were made with Archiborborus sp. (Acalyptratae, Sphaeroceridae), Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (Oestroidea, Calliphoridae) and other muscids.

Size-associated Variation and Factors Affecting the Morphology of Brown Bodies in Glycera tridactyla (Polychaeta:Glyceridae) BABT
Can,Elif.
Size-associated variations in brown body morphology (size and shape) were studied from the individuals of Glycera tridactyla. Variables related to size, length (BL) and width (BW) of the brown bodies were measured. On the basis of these measurements, other variables such as the surface area (SA), volume (V), surface area/volume ratio (SA/V) and elongation degree (ED) were calculated. Brown body shape was quantified by the elongation degree. The immature brown bodies were significantly smaller than the mature bodies, and therefore the smaller bodies had a higher SA/V. Results obtained from the regression analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between all the variables with the exception of SA/V:BW for the immature bodies and ED: BL for...
