Characterization of the commercial fish production landed at Manaus, Amazonas State, Brazil Acta Amazonica

The present work aims to update a series of information about the regional fishing production, by presenting and characterizing the contribution of the different sub-systems of the Amazon basin to the catch landed at the main fishing market of Manaus, Brazil, from 1994 to 1996. Collectors specifically hired for this function registered key information on the fisheries. Thirty nine types or groups of fish were found in the fishing production landed. Jaraqui (Semaprochilodus spp.), curimatã (Prochilodus nigricans), pacu (Myleinae), matrinchã (Brycon cephalus), sardine (Triportheus spp.), aracu (Anostomidae) and tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) were the most important items during three consecutive years. A pesquisa foi realizada nos municípios de Dracena, Junqueirópolis, Mirandópolis, Alianças, Ilha Solteira, Castilho, Araçatuba, Birigui e Guararapes, Estado de São Paulo, aplicando-se um questionário para 17 produtores. As informações sobre as etapas do cultivo de Shiitake em toros, catalogando e caracterizando os produtores e o cultivo, foram tabuladas no software Microsoft Excel for Windows. This study aimed to evaluate the economic viability of using different levels of oregano in diets for lactating cows fed sugar cane. We used 12 crossbred Holstein x Zebu cows assigned to three 4 x 4 Latin squares. The four treatments consisted of different levels of oregano: oregano free-control diet (0%) and diets added with 0.8, 1.6, and 2.4% oregano. Diets were formulated to meet the requirements for maintenance and milk production of 15 kg day-1. The present study evaluated the effects of supplements on the productive performance and economical parameters of beef steers on pastures during the dry season. Twenty-four castrated steers with average age and weight of eighteen months and 269 kg, respectively, were evaluated in the following treatments: pasture without minerals (P); pasture and mineral salt (PMS) and pasture and mineral salt plus urea (PMSU). The objective was to assess agronomic characteristics of sorghum genotypes and nutritional values of produced silage. A total of 15 sorghum genotypes were used. Ciliate protozoa of the genus Euplotes commonly appears contaminating mass cultures of rotifers but also with potential to be used as live food in the larviculture of marine fish. To obtain a monoculture of Euplotes sp., three diets were tested: 1) microalgae Nannochloropsis oculata, 2) commercial diet for rotifers Culture Selco 3000, and 3) baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The ciliates were inoculated at 10 ind. mL-¹. A soya milk production and pasteurization plant was designed, fabricated and tested.  The machine processed soaked soya milk to milk and also pasteurized it. Its major component parts include blending chamber, blending blade, furnace, boiler, temperature gauge and pasteurization chamber. The blending of soya beans, mixing the slurry and extracting the milk from the paste takes place in the milling chamber. The burning of biomass (briquette) takes place in the furnace and heating of water at the boiler. Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the consequences of dietary levels of crude protein (CP) and total sulfur amino acids (TSAA, Met+Cys) on productive performance, egg quality and egg components for Lohmann Brown laying hens through 18-34 weeks of age. A 2×3 factorial design experiment was conducted using two levels of CP (16 and 18 %) and three levels of Met+ Cys (0.67, 0.72 and 0.77 %). A total of 144 Lohmann Brown laying hens at 18 weeks of age were randomly divided into 6 treatment groups. The enzyme glucanase from Moniliophthora perniciosa was produced in liquid medium and purified from the culture supernatant. A multivariate statistical approach (Response Surface Methodology - RSM) was employed to evaluate the effect of variables, including inducer (yeast extract) and fermentation time, on secreted glucanase activities M. perniciosa detected in the culture medium. The crude enzyme present in the supernatant was purified in two steps: precipitation with ammonium sulfate (70%) and gel filtration chromatography on Sephacryl S-200. The best inducer and fermentation time for glucanase activities were 5.9 g L-1 and 13 days, respectively. The aim of this study was to determine the best level of utilization of dried waste of cassava starch extraction (WCSEd) as a substitute for corn for lactating cows. Four lactating cows were fed diets with increasing levels (0%, 33%, 66% and 100%) of WCSEd as a substitute for corn. The intake and digestibility of dry matter and nutrients, milk production and composition, blood parameters of glucose and urea and microbial synthesis of the diets were evaluated. There was a reduction in dry matter intake, organic matter, ether extract and total carbohydrate, and increased intake of acid detergent fiber. Probiotic effects on growth performance, carcass traits, blood parameters, cecal microbiota, and immune response of broilers were studied. Two hundred one-day-old male chickens were allocated to one of five treatments (four replicates of 10 birds per treatment): control, and the same control diet supplemented with 0.005%, 0.01%, 0.015% and 0.02% probiotics. Probiotics in feed at 0.01% or higher levels of supplementation improved body weight gain (+12%) and feed conversion rate (-5%) compared with the control. Avaliaram-se as variáveis cinéticas da cefepime e a produção de leite de cabras após a administração parenteral (intravenosa e intramuscular) de cefepime, com e sem reação inflamatória na região implantada. Dez cabras em lactação, implantadas com caixas de material sem reação imunológica para colher o fluido de tecido (FT) foram usadas em dois experimentos. No primeiro a aplicação de cefepime foi feita na primeira semana após a implantação e no segundo na oitava semana. Na primeira semana após a implantação observou-se elevação dos níveis de proteína no fluido do tecido após uma simples dose de 20mg/kg de cefepime via endovenosa ou intramuscular. Amostras do sangue e do leite foram obtidas e as variáveis cinéticas foram avaliadas.
