Combination of Black Shading Nets and Its Effect on Radiation Intensity and Quality CIGR Journal
dos Reis, Carlos Henrique Goulart; Pereira, Fabricio José.
The use of shading nets in agronomy is a common method to create protected environments for plant acclimation and production. Climate changes increased the use of shading nets and it is common to find builds with combined or overlapped layers whereas the resulting attenuation is unclear. This work aimed to study the radiation intensity and attenuation inside shaded environments created by combining black shading nets. Shading environments were build with a base 30% black shading net and the combinations of 30%+50% and 30%+70% nets, plus, shaded environments were compared to unshaded condition. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments and five replicates. Radiation intensity was measured with a spectroradiometer at ultraviolet...

Milani,Marília; Lopes,Sidinei José; Bellé,Rogério Antônio; Backes,Fernanda Alice Antonello Londero.
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to characterize the height (H) and leaf number (LN) of China pinks, grown in seven substrates, as a function of degree days, using the logistic growth model. H and LN were measured from 56 plants per substrate, for 392 plants in total. Plants that were grown on substrates formed of 50% soil with 50% rice husk ash (50% S + 50% RH) and 80% rice husk ash with 20% worm castings (80% RH + 20% W) had the longest vegetative growth period (74d), corresponding to 1317.9ºCd. The logistic growth model, adjusted for H, showed differences in the estimation of maximum expected height (α) between the substrates, with values between 10.47cm for 50% S + 50% RH and 35.75cm for Mecplant(r). When α was estimated as LN, variation was...

Greenhouse crisphead lettuce grown with mulching and under different soil water tensions REA
Geisenhoff,Luciano O; Pereira,Geraldo M; Lima Junior,Joaquim A. de; Silva,Andre L. Pereira da; Aviz,William L. Carrera de.
ABSTRACT Proper irrigation management is important both to enable adequate water supply and to minimize problems with diseases, nutrient leaching and unnecessary water and power wastes. Thus, this study aimed at improving irrigation management in greenhouses. For that reason, we assessed the effect of various water tensions on yield performance of crisphead lettuce, Raider-Plus cv. , grown with mulching. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse at the Federal University of Lavras. Treatments constituted five different soil water tensions, namely 12, 25, 35, 45, and 70 kPa. The results showed that irrigation must be carried out at water soil tension of around 12 kPa to reach satisfying commercial values for both total and commercial yield, 66 and 50 t...
