Das Anbaukonzept Weite Reihe bei verschiedenen Druschkulturen unter Berücksichtung des Vorfruchtwertes Organic Eprints
Becker, Konstantin; Leithold, Günter.
Different row distances (12,5 cm vs. 50 cm) and leguminous underseeds have nor-mally little effect on of grain crop yield. When the main crops are strongly influenced by weed a higher yield can be achieved with the help of the wide-row-system. The crop quality can also be improved, for example the baking performance of winter wheat. The higher preceding crop value of wide-row-system with underseed can be demonstrated by potatoes.

Mixed cropping systems for control of weeds and pests in organic oilseed crops Organic Eprints
Paulsen, H M; Schochow, M; Ulber, B; Kuhne, S; Rahmann, G.
Agricultural advantages of mixed cropping are gained from biological effects like light competition offering weed-suppressing capacities, or by diversification of plant covers to break development cycles of pests. These effects were measured in a two-year project on mixed cropping with organic oilseed crops. It was found that weeds can be efficiently suppressed in organic linseed (Linum usitatissivum) grown in combination with wheat (Triticum aestivum) or false flax (Camelina sativa). Linseed growth was, however, impaired. In organic pea production (Pisum sativum) also, growing the crop as a mixture with false flax led to a significant decrease of weed population. Either culture showed a balanced plant development. In winter rape (Brassica napus) there...

Effects on weeds of management in newly converted organic crop rotations in Denmark Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.A.; Askegaard, M.; Olesen, J.E.; Kristensen, K..
We investigated the effects on annual weeds of location, weed control, manure application and catch crops and their interactions in a crop rotation with cereals and pulses for grain during conversion to organic farming in order to better understand the combined effects of management. An experiment with a four-year crop rotation (spring barley/undersown ley, grass-clover, winter wheat, pea/barley) was carried out from 1997 to 2000 under organic conditions at three locations in Denmark with four treatments: with and without catch crop, and with and without manure. Mechanical weed control was reduced or absent in cereals or pulses with undersown catch crops or grass-clover. Manure application increased weed biomass, but not the proportion of total biomass...

Management of perennial weeds and nitrogen leaching in arable cropping systems Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.A.; Askegaard, M.; Olesen, J.E..
A crop rotation experiment was established in 1997 at three locations representing different soil types and climates. Three factors were tested: crop rotation, catch crop and manure. Catch crop reduced nitrate leaching, but prohibited stubble cultivation. The use of catch crops resulted in increased levels of perennial weeds (E. repens) at one location, while at another; the level of C. arvense was not affected by catch crops, when compared with the use of stubble cultivation. Management of perennial weeds should include considerations of where in a crop rotation to use stubble cultivation, and this should preferably not be after a pulse crop. Catch crops are a more profitable way to manage C. arvense than stubble cultivations.

Development of weeds in organic crop rotation experiments Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.A.; Askegaard, M.; Olesen, J.E..
Weeds are a major problem in organic farming. Preventive as well as curative measures must be utilised to manage the weeds and avoid proliferation. Besides direct weed control measures, many different aspects of planning and management in the cropping system affect the proliferation of weeds. However, it has rarely been investigated how the whole system affects weed populations.

Ukrudtets udvikling i de økologiske sædskifteforsøg Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.; Askegaard, M..

Long-term organic crop rotation experiments for cereal production - perennial weed control and nitrogen leaching Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.A.; Askegaard, M.; Olesen, J.E..
In long-term organic crop rotation experiments for cereal production, stubble cultivation to control perennial weeds increased nitrogen leaching compared to catch crops grown after harvest. Stubble cultivation contributed to the control of Elymus repens on a sandy soil, but not to the control of Cirsium arvense on a loamy soil. Manure application had a tendency to decrease E. repens density in one rotation at the sandy soil. Grass-clover green manure decreased C. arvense in the succeeding crops. Despite high infestations of perennial weeds, yields were at the same level with as without stubble cultivation. The results point to an important dilemma in organic farming: should the farmer control perennial weeds in the stubble at the expense of losing nitrogen...

Pea-barley intercropping for the control of weeds in European organic cropping systems Organic Eprints
Dibet, Audrey; Hauggaard-Nielsen, Henrik; Kasyanova, Elena; Ruske, Rachel; Gooding, Mike; Pristeri, Aurelio; Monti, Michele; Dahlmann, Christoph; von Fragstein, Peter; Ambus, Per; Jensen, Erik; Crozat, Yves.
Two pea-barley intercropping strategies were compared with respective sole crops for their capacity to reduce weeds. Crops were grown under organic conditions without mechanical weeding. Field trials were carried out during three years throughout Europe. Although crops were tested under diverse soil and climate conditions, in the presence of different weed species and varying weed biomass, it appeared in all experimental sites that weeds were better controlled in barley sole crop or in intercrops than in pea sole crop. Differences in the degree of weed control between crop treatments were already visible at flowering and sometimes increased until maturity. It is interesting to note that the substitutive and additive designs obtained similar results. The...

Preisgewinner) bzw. Stangenbohnen (Phaseolus vulgaris, cv. Tarbais) getestet. Als Kontrollvarianten wurden Parzellen ohne Untersaat geprüft. Die Untersaatmischungen bestanden aus Welschem Weidelgras (cv. Gersimi, Aussaatdichte: 15 kg ha-1), in Kombination mit Erdklee (cv. Seaton Park, Aussaatdichte: 30 kg ha-1) in US1 und Futterchicoree (cv. Puna II, Aussaatdichte 7,5 kg ha-1) in US2. Zum Zeitpunkt der Maisblüte (BBCH65) wurden der...

Økologiske sædskifter til korn - kan produktionen øges? Organic Eprints
Rasmussen, I.A.; Askegaard, M.; Olesen, J.E..
