In academics, English is traditionally viewed as an independent department functioning on its own with little, if any, cooperation or interest coming from non-English-related students and staff of an institution. But with the changing times and increasingly competitive environment that have quite dramatically impacted education in Japan, it may be time to more seriously consider some options for making one’s English program more viable, and even indispensable, to the overall success of a school.
