On relict hydrobiid species in Brazilian Amazonia (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia, Hydrobiidae) Naturalis
Wesselingh, F.P..
Two extant hydrobiid species from the lower Tapajos river of Brazil are redescribed. Potamopyrgus amazonicus Haas, 1949, is assigned to the genus Dyris Conrad, 1871. At least eleven species from Miocene deposits of Western Amazonia are assigned to Dyris, a genus that was previously assumed to be extinct. The apertural features of Sioliella effusa Haas, 1949, are considered indicative of a close relationship to Miocene Amazonian taxa formaly assigned to Eubora Kadolsky, 1980. Sioliella ovata spec. nov., a Miocene species resembling S. effusa is described. The two Tapajos species can be regarded as relicts of a speciose, endemic, Miocene Western Amazonian molluscan fauna.

Die Aciculidae (Mollusca: Gastropoda Prosobranchia) Naturalis
Boeters, H.D.; Gittenberger, E.; Subai, P..
Our knowledge concerning the recent and fossil species and subspecies of the Aciculidae is summarized. After some introductionary chapters concerning habitat, anatomy, shell morphology and distribution, both in time and geographical, all taxa are dealt with systematically. In total 56 recent species of Aciculidae are characterized, belonging to Acicula (20), Menkia (1), Platyla (25) and Renea (10). In addition 15 fossil species are recognized, in Acicula (5), Menkia (1), Platyla (6) and Renea (3). Four Acicula species and one Platyla species are known from the Miocene to the Recent. Keys enable the identification down to the subspecies level. Synonymy lists are given. The species and subspecies are described and illustrated. Distributional data are...

Pectinoidea (Bivalvia: Propeamussiidae and Pectinidae) from the Panglao region, Philippine Islands Naturalis
Dijkstra, H.H..
Sixty one Pectinoidea species (11 Propeamussiidae and 50 Pectinidae) collected by the 2004 Panglao Marine Biodiversity Project (PMBP) to Panglao, Philippines, and the PANGLAO 2005 Deep-Sea Cruise are described. One Propeamussiidae species is new to science: Parvamussium largoi spec. nov. Three pectinoidean species (1 Propeamus-siidae, 2 Pectinidae) are new records for the Philippines: Similipecten eous (Melvill in Melvill & Standen, 1907), "Mimachlamys" kauaiensis (Dall, Bartsch & Rehder, 1938) and Haumea rehderi (Grau, 1960). Records of species in the ZMA collection (now Naturalis Biodiversity Center) from the Philippines, not sampled by PMBP 2004 and PANGLAO 2005, are given. Amussium electrum Pelseneer, 1911 is newly synonymised with...

The genus Babylonia revisited (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Buccinidae) Naturalis
Gittenberger, E.; Goud, J..
Taxonomic and biogeographic data on Babylonia and Zemiropsis, published after the 1981 monograph on Babylonia by Altena & Gittenberger, are summarized and new data are added. Babylonia and Zemiropsis are characterized and considered most closely related genera. Babylonia lani spec. nov. and Babylonia umbilifusca spec. nov. are introduced as new to science. Babylonia leonis Altena & Gittenberger, 1972, described from pliocene-pleistocene deposits, is reported as an extant species. The enigmatic “Babylonia” rosadoi is considered a Zemiropsis species on the basis of both shell morphology and distribution.

The Family Thaerocytheridae Hazel, 1967 (Ostracoda) from the Southern Brazilian Continental Shelf Ameghiniana
Feijó Ramos,Maria Inês; Coimbra,João Carlos; Whatley,Robin.
Of a total fauna of 95 species of benthic Ostracoda recovered from dry sediments from the southern Brazilian continental shelf, 8% belong to the Family Thaerocytheridae. Six species assigned to this family are discussed and figured in this paper; four of these, Bradleya pseudonormani, B. kaesleri, Muellerina cribrosa and Quadracythere nealei are described as new, while Brasilicythere reticulispinosa and Quadracythere eichlerae were described for the first time from the Quaternary of Pelotas Basin, in southern Brazil. Most of these species are restricted to the southern part of the Southwest Atlantic Ocean, and their geographical distribution ranges from the southern Brazilian continental shelf, in Rio de Janeiro State (21ºS), to the Argentinian continental...
