Resistance modality of hybrid sorghum to sorghum midge. Repositório Alice

Using the sorghum midge, Contarinia sorghicola (Coq.), resistant hy-brid ATx2755 X Tx2767 and the susceptible hybrid ATx2752 X Tx430 several aspects of the resistance were examined under field conditions from 1982 to 1984 at College Station, Texas. Based on the number of oviposition adult midges trapped per flowering panicle, about 1/3 more female midges visited flowering panicles of the susceptible hybrid than the resistant. In addition, comparing the number of eggs laid by 20 caged females, it was shown that 4-5 times more eggs were laid in spikelets of the susceptible hybrid than spikelets of the resistant hybrid.Although and equivalent proportion of eggs was laid during and before anthesis in spikelets of both hybrids, a significantly lower proportion...

Biofilm formation on polystyrene under different temperatures by antibiotic resistant Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium isolated from food BJM

The ability of antibiotic resistant E. faecalis and E. faecium isolated from food to form biofilm at different temperatures in the absence or presence of 0.75% glucose was evaluated. A synergistic effect on biofilm at 10 °C, 28 °C, 37 °C and 45 °C and glucose was observed for E. faecalis and E. faecium.

Reação de genótipos de Centrosema e de Leucaena a Meloidogyne javanica. Infoteca-e

RESUMO: Genótipos de Centrosema, Leucaena leucocephala, L. leucocephala e L. diversifolia foram avaliados para resistência a Meloidogyne javanica, com o uso de dois níveis de inóculo (O e 5000 ovos e juvenis de segundo estádio (J2)/planta) em casa de vegetação. A inoculação das plantas foi feita com M. javanica 15 dias após a emergência de plantas quando as mudas foram transplantadas para vasos de plástico contendo 1000 ml de substrato autoclavado. O tomateiro (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Rutger foi utilizado como planta suscetível para comparação e de viabilidade de inóculo. การทดสอบความชอบในการเข้าทำลายของด้วงงวงมันเทศ (Cylas formicarius F.) บนมันเทศพันธุ์ต่างๆ Thai Agricultural

Damaging observation in term of preference of sweet potato weevil (Cylas formicarius F.) on 219 varieties of sweet potato was conducted at Pijit Agricultural Research and Development Center, Pijit province, as well as laboratory preference test using no choice method, the relationship among infestation level, sweet potato color, %dried weight latex, %dried weight tube and containing of phenolic compound were also conducted. The result showed that, the sweet potato weevil infested various colors of sweet potatoes with non-statistically significant differences at 95%.
