Nuevos datos sobre la geología del Golfo de México y el Mar Caribe OceanDocs
Melnik, V. I.; Zernestki, B. F..
New marine geological data of Cuban shelf were obtained during Cuban-Soviet Expedition of 1964-1965. The micro and macrofauna and substancial composition were studied. Bentonic foraminifera appeared over 100 m depth in the Gulf of Mexico. The muds were the most caracteristic sediment of the Caribbean Sea. The composition or rare rock was studied in the Yucatan Strait. With a big content of Si, Al, Mg, Ca, Fe and Ti was noted a low content of Na. This is not characterisc on eruptioned calcareous rocks.

Source rock evaluation of some intervals in the Gulf of Suez area, Egypt OceanDocs
Aou Shagar, S..
In order to identify and evaluate the source rocks combination between resistivity, sonic, density and level of organic metamorphism (LOM) from three wells distributed in the central and southern part of the Gulf of Suez-Egypt is performed. Two analytical steps were carried out. The first one is represented by identification of source/non-source intervals using the method described by Meyer and Nederlof (1984) for calculation of discriminant score function (D). The second step is represented by calculation of TOC% using two methods, the first, which based on using the density information and the second was described through the logR and the overlay between the resistivity curve from one hand and sonic, density from the other. Data from three wells were...

Microhabitat use by Cnemidophorus vacariensis (Squamata: Teiidae) in the grasslands of the Araucaria Plateau, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil Rev. Bras. Zool.
Caruccio,Rodrigo; Vieira,Renata C.; Verrastro,Laura.
Microhabitat use by Cnemidophorus vacariensis Feltrim & Lema, 2000 as studied between October 2006 and September 2007 in two rocky formations in the municipality of Bom Jesus. The area was searched randomly between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm and the microhabitat used by the lizards was recorded. Our observations revealed that C. vacariensis has terrestrial habits and prefers open areas. Burrows are the main microhabitat used by the species (56.38%). When in activity, 54.76% of the individuals were observed under rocks, and 38.1% on the ground where herbaceous vegetation was present. The rocks under which they constructed their burrows were on average significantly thicker during warmer seasons temperatures (x¯ = 13,45cm) with respect to colder seasons (x¯...

Spectrophotometric determination of Pd(Ii) with P-Dimethylaminebenzylidenerhodanine BABT
Dias,Lucia Felicidade; Nozaki,Jorge.
p-Dimethylaminebenzylidenerhodanine in methyl isobutyl ketone was employed as selective and sensitive reagent for the extraction and determination of palladium(II) in metal alloys and rocks. Beer’s Law is followed in the concentration range 0.2-2.4 m g.mL-1 of organic phase with a molar absorptivity of 3.0x10(4)L.mol-1.cm-1. The detection limit observed for aqueous solution was 0.1 mg.L-1. The extractions were performed at pH 2.4 and no interference of foreign ions such as Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe3+, Pb2+, Hg2+ ,etc., were observed in jewellery alloy and rock sample analyzed. The complex of reagent and palladium(II) was pH dependent and it should be carefully controlled during extraction. Continuous variation and mole ratio methods showed that the complex...
