Rumen degradation and passage kinetics of silage made from different corn hybrids R. Bras. Zootec.
Araújo,Karoline Guedes; Villela,Severino Delmar Junqueira; Leonel,Fernando de Paula; Tamy,Wagner Pessanha; Gomes,Raphael dos Santos; Abreu,Matheus Lima Corrêa.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the parameters related to the digestion of the fiber from silages of four corn hybrids (BX1280, SHS4070, 2B433, and DKB390) developed for silage production. Four rumen-cannulated castrated Holstein × Zebu crossbred cattle with approximate initial weight of 400 kg were distributed in a Latin square design. To determine the fiber passage rate and degradability, the techniques of chromium-mordant and in situ incubation of the neutral detergent fiber of the silages in nylon bags were used. The profiles of concentration of the marker in the feces were described by the generalized two-compartment model. Corn hybrid DKB390 is the most indicated for production of better-quality silages, because its fiber is more...

Influence of stage of maturity on bromatological quality of corn forage R. Bras. Zootec.
Filho,Alano Xavier Souza; Pinho,Renzo Garcia Von; Pereira,José Luiz de Andrade Resende; Reis,Matheus Costa dos; Rezende,Adauton Vilela de; Castro Mata,Diego de.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of stalk/leaf ratio and the stage of maturity on the digestibility of the corn plant. Hybrids AG1051, AG4051, AG5011, DOW2B710, DOW2C577, DOW2A525, NB7315 and P30F90 were used, harvested at the one-half milk line (½ ML), three-quarters milk line (¾ ML) and black layer (BL) stages. A randomized block design was used in an 8 (hybrids) × 3 (stages of maturity) factorial design, with three replications. The means generated were used for grouping into high and low stalk/leaf ratio and a new analysis of variance was generated in a 2 × 3 (two groups and three stages of maturity) factorial design. The whole plant and its stalk, leaf, husk, cob and grain components were incubated in situ in the rumen of three...

In vitro fermentation characteristics of ruminant diets using ethanol extract of brown propolis as a nutritional additive R. Bras. Zootec.
Gomes,Maria de Fátima Falcão; Ítavo,Camila Celeste Brandão Ferreira; Ítavo,Luís Carlos Vinhas; Leal,Cássia Rejane Brito; Silva,Jonilson Araújo da; Heimbach,Natália da Silva; Leal,Eduardo Souza.
ABSTRACT The addition of levels of ethanol extract of brown propolis was evaluated by assessing diet degradation in rumen fluid and predicting cumulative in vitro gas production by nonlinear (dual pool logistic and exponential) models. A total of 35 g of crude propolis were extracted in 65 mL of cereal alcohol (95% ethanol). In a completely randomized factorial design, the experimental diets combined four concentrations of extracted propolis diluted in cereal alcohol (0, 50, 70, and 100% of propolis extract) and supplementation doses (4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 mL/kg dry matter), tested in triplicate. Diet (400 g/kg Tifton hay and 600 g/kg concentrate) was incubated for 96 h carried out three times in three different weeks. There was significant interaction...

A study of in situ degradability: heterogeneity of variances and correlated errors Scientia Agricola
Savian,Taciana Villela; Muniz,Joel Augusto.
Degradation models exhibit a non-linear behavior and the selection of a model to describe the degradability depends on the coherence of the model with the involved biological events. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the behavior of the parameters of the degradation model proposed by Mertens & Loften, adjusted to the results of an in situ degradability trial. The experiment evaluated the potential degradable residue of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of coastcross grass (Cynodon dactylon × Cynodon nlemfuensis) submitted to two cutting ages (30 and 90 days), with three replicates. For each cutting age, the potentially degradable residue of NDF was studied using fifteen incubation times (0; 0,5; 1; 3; 6; 9; 12; 18; 34; 35; 48; 56; 72; 96 e 120...

Ruminal dry matter and fiber fraction degradability from two stylos cultivars Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Corrêa,D.S.; Magalhães,R.T.; Siqueira,D.C.B..
Ruminal degradability of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber of cultivars Stylozanthes guianensis (Mineirão) and Stylozanthes spp. (Campo Grande) were evaluated. Two incubations in rumen-fistulated adult bovine females were undertaken. Each incubation comprised of 25 samples of 7.0 g of each cultivar and samples were collected at 0, 6, 9, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 and 96 hours after incubation. At a 5%/hour passage rate, Stylozanthes guianensis had 75.70, 59.01 and 76.81% effective degradability for dry matter, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber, respectively, whereas Stylozanthes spp. had 68.39, 51.93 and 58.89% for the same fractions. The lag time was different (P<0.05) only for acid detergent fiber. Stylozanthes...
