Mercado de Trabalho Assalariado na Cana-de-Açúcar: uma Análise das Regiões Tradicionais no Período 1992-2006 AgEcon
Balsadi, Otavio Valentim; Gomes, Eliane Goncalves.

Fruits as unusual food items of the carnivorous bat Chrotopterus auritus (Mammalia, Phyllostomidae) from southeastern Brazil Zoologia
Uieda,Wilson; Sato,Therys M.; Carvalho,Maria C. de; Bonato,Vinícius.
We record here the occurrence of seeds of several plant species in feces found inside the day roost of Chrotoperus auritus, at the Estação Experimental de Itirapina, State of São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, in July 2001. The roost was used by only one adult female, non pregnant, during about a month. In the feces, fur of rodent (Muridae), bone fragments, fragments of Scarabaeidae and other beetles and insects, leaves (not determined) and many seeds of Piperaceae (Piper sp.), Urticaceae (Cecropia sp.) and Solanaceae (Solanum spp. and Cestrum sp.) were found. In the gut content, insect fragments, fur of rodent (Muridae) and plant remains were found. It was discussed why this carnivorous bat would be consuming plant items.

Upper Pleistocene deposits of the Comprida Island (São Paulo State) dated by thermoluminescence method Anais da ABC (AABC)
SUGUIO,KENITIRO; TATUMI,SONIA H.; KOWATA,EMÍLIA A.; MUNITA,CASIMIRO S.; PAIVA,ROSEMEIRE P..
The Cananéia (Upper Pleistocene) and the Comprida Island (Holocene) formations, outcropping in the Comprida island (SP) have been mapped using geomorphological and lithological criteria. Only one sample of the Cananéia Formation, collected in the homonymous island in front of the Comprida Island, was beyond the limit of the standard radiocarbon method. But since the publication of the geological map of the area in 1978, there has been some doubt on the real occurrence of Pleistocene deposits in southern extremity of Comprida Island. This paper deals with the results of thermoluminescence (TL) ages of eight samples from Comprida Island, which corroborate the Pleistocene age assumed during mapping surveys of these deposits. On the other hand, possible...

Comparative analysis of the song of the Rufous-collared Sparrow Zonotrichia capensis (Emberizidae) between Campinas and Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
Avelino,Márcio F.; Vielliard,Jacques M.E..
The regional dialects or regiolects of the Rufous-collared Sparrow Zonotrichia capensis were compared between Campinas (47º06'W-22º90'S) and Botucatu (48º44'W-22º88'S), São Paulo State, Southeastern Brazil. Songs of 88 individuals from thirteen localities were recorded. Sonograms showed that two areas presented more homogeneous songs, forming two regiolects. In 11 localities most individuals shared the same song type. At the other two localities, they sang up to 5 different song types. This occurs at the boundaries of the regiolects, and was also where individuals singing more than one song type were found. Similarities between song types were not related to geographic distance between the respective singers. A comparative analysis showed similarities in...

Efficiency of playback for assessing the occurrence of five bird species in Brazilian Atlantic Forest fragments Anais da ABC (AABC)
Boscolo,Danilo; Metzger,Jean Paul; Vielliard,Jacques M.E..
Playback of bird songs is a useful technique for species detection; however, this method is usually not standardized. We tested playback efficiency for five Atlantic Forest birds (White-browed Warbler Basileuterus leucoblepharus, Giant Antshrike Batara cinerea, Swallow-tailed Manakin Chiroxiphia caudata, Whiteshouldered Fire-eye Pyriglena leucoptera and Surucua Trogon Trogon surrucura) for different time of the day, season of the year and species abundance at the Morro Grande Forest Reserve (South-eastern Brazil) and at thirteen forest fragments in a nearby landscape. Vocalizations were broadcasted monthly at sunrise, noon and sunset, during one year. For B. leucoblepharus, C. caudata and T. surrucura, sunrise and noon were more efficient than sunset....

The amphibians of São Paulo State, Brazil amphibians of São Paulo Biota Neotropica
Araújo,Olívia Gabriela dos Santos; Toledo,Luís Felipe; Garcia,Paulo Christiano Anchietta; Haddad,Célio Fernando Baptista.
The State of São Paulo is one of the most studied regions of Brazil in regard to amphibian species richness and distribution. However, we still do not have a list of species for the State. Therefore, we present here a list including 231 species of amphibians (225 anurans and six caecilians), of which 27 are endemic. We present data about previous and current taxonomists and speculate about future prospects in the study and conservation of amphibian biodiversity in São Paulo State.

Unfolding additional massive cutback effects of the Native Vegetation Protection Law on Legal Reserves, Brazil Biota Neotropica
Tavares,Paulo André; Brites,Alice Dantas; Sparovek,Gerd; Guidotti,Vinícius; Cerignoni,Felipe; Aguiar,Daniel; Metzger,Jean Paul; Rodrigues,Ricardo Ribeiro; Pinto,Luis Fernando Guedes; Mello,Kaline de; Molin,Paulo Guilherme.
Abstract: The Native Vegetation Protection Law - 2012 - (NVPL) is the main Brazilian regulation for protecting native vegetation (NV) on private land. The NVPL, currently in the implementation phase, reduced Legal Reserves (LR) requirements compared to its previous version, the 1965's Forest Act (FA), through several legal mechanisms. Among them, Article 68 (Art.68) exempts landholders from LR obligations if NV was converted without offending the legislation in place at the time of the conversion. The technical implementation of Art. 68 is controversial and its effects are still unknown. We developed a model to estimate the effects of Art.68 on LR using São Paulo State (Brazil) as case study. We analyzed former environmental laws to identify key periods in...
