This work analyzed the implementation of images from the remote sensors ASTER, CBERS, IKONOS, LANDSAT, MODIS, NOAA, QUICKBIRD and SPOT in Brazilian and international Landscape Ecology studies, developed between 1991 and July 2009. The study analyzed works published in article form using the ISI Web of Knowledge website, and theses and dissertations from the “Thesis Database” at CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Ensino Superior). A total of 124 Brazilian and 144 international published works were examined, analyzing 11 and six parameters, respectively. O trabalho disponibiliza informações, para o conhecimento da bioecologia e comportamento de pragas de insetos, como o gafanhoto, potencialmente nocivos aos agroecossistemas. Esses dados orbitais foram processados digitalmente, às quais resultam em produtos sobre usos da cobertura terrestre e impactos nos recursos naturais por atividades antrópicas desordenadas, zonas potencialmente vulneráveis ao ataque de populações por estes insetos, integrando imagens NOAA, LANDSAT e SPOT processadas que geram informação preliminar, sobre os índices de vegetação e de atividade fotossintética para caracterização da dinâmica dos processos de produção de biomassa vegetal a nível de meso e macro escalas, da região norte do Mato Grosso do Sul

Coastal zones inventory by high resolution satellites ArchiMer

The development of tools for assessing impacts on coastal environments is a reality. These impact assessments need both baseline and monitoring studies. Satellite remote sensing data would be useful for coastal inventories (baselines) and monitoring if high spatial and temporal resolutions are yield compatible. An overview of the various sensors that could be used is presented. The constraints linked to the different resolutions are exposed. An example based on Spot simulated data and trends are developed.

Un-quantified observations seem to indicate a decrease in brown algae blanket in inter-tidal zones along several coastlines. The goal of this contract, which is CEVA's contribution to REBENT- Bretagne_ year 2003, regards the quantitative evaluation and long term follow up of fucales in inter-tidal zones. The work that was accomplished during a previous contract with CEVA had allowed defining a SPOT image processing protocol used to evaluate and follow up, in time, global vegetal blankets. A methodology form had been written up and two SPOT images from the Trégor region had been processed as a vegetal blanket. Première évaluation des potentialités du satellite Spot pour la cartographie des peuplements benthiques superficiels de Méditerranée occidentale ArchiMer

A Spot satellite image was processed to assess the suitability of this facility for the cartography of epibenthic populations and bottom types in the Mediterranean sublittoral fringe. The area studied was on the north coast of Porquerolles island (Hyeres, SE France). The treated data were compared with mapping carried out by diving. We show that satellite remote sensing may permit a distinction between certain epibenthic populations and bottom types down to 10 m depth. Thus the usefulness of the satellite is reduced where the sublittoral is steeply shelving, as the mappable area is narrow and represented by only a few pixels, each of which tends to overlap several separate biocoenoses.
