Effects of tillage direction on sediment yield in Chanchaga Basins 111
Kuti, Ibrahim Abayomi.
There is no study on the effect of tillage erosion in the region. Runoff plots (24) were constructed on a similar slope. Now sedimentation tanks were incorporated into runoff measurement using catch-pits to collect coarse and suspended sediment. Quadratic model fits sediment and rainfall, while the exponential model fits runoff and sediment yield. The effect of tillage without a crop was highest on sediment yield. Slope gradients have an effect on sediment deposition in Shatta basin because of the convex and concave landscape. While concave landscape makes the slope gradient to have a none effect on sediment yield in Koropa basin. Ridge made parallel to the slope has a high effect on sediment yield. The study concluded that tillage parallel to the slope...

Hydrosedimentological dynamic on Água Fria Watershed 52
Silva,Alexandre Marco da; Schulz,Harry Edmar.
This study aimed surveying the amount of sediment yielded from the Água Fria watershed (Palmas, Tocantins, Brazil), from February-1998 to January-1999, and investigating the relations between the sediment yield and some environmental and/or antropic factors. The Colby's method was the technique employed for this investigation. The specific sediment yield and sediment delivery ratio were also determined for this period. It was estimated that 138,619 tons of sediment were yielded and the specific sediment yield for the study area was 827 t km-2 y-1, while the sediment delivery ratio was 6.2%. The suspended load was the most dominating fraction in almost all the studied period.

Use of the swat model for hydro-sedimentologic simulation in a small rural watershed 90
Uzeika,Talita; Merten,Gustavo H; Minella,Jean P.G; Moro,Michele.
Mathematical models have great potential to support land use planning, with the goal of improving water and land quality. Before using a model, however, the model must demonstrate that it can correctly simulate the hydrological and erosive processes of a given site. The SWAT model (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) was developed in the United States to evaluate the effects of conservation agriculture on hydrological processes and water quality at the watershed scale. This model was initially proposed for use without calibration, which would eliminate the need for measured hydro-sedimentologic data. In this study, the SWAT model was evaluated in a small rural watershed (1.19 km²) located on the basalt slopes of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern...

Sediment delivery ratio in a small semi-arid watershed under conditions of low connectivity 124
Santos,Julio Cesar Neves dos; Andrade,Eunice Maia de; Medeiros,Pedro Henrique Augusto; Palácio,Helba Araújo de Queiroz; Araújo Neto,José Ribeiro de.
ABSTRACT The semi-arid region in the northeast of Brazil is characterised by rains of high intensity and short duration, with the processes of erosion being aggravated by an inappropriate land-use model. In this region, the lack of measured data for runoff and sediment yield increases the need to apply hydro-sedimentological models in estimating erosion, requiring knowledge of the actual sediment delivery ratio for the region. The aim of this study therefore, was to map soil erosion, making use of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), in the Iguatu Experimental Watershed (IEW). The mean annual sediment delivery ratio (SDR), and the SDR for individual events, was calculated from hydro-sedimentological measurements, contributing to an understanding of the...
