Research has emphasized the relationship of laboratory germination and vigor to seedling emergence and stand establishment, but information relating seed vigor to plant performance is less available. The reliable procedures to evaluate onion (Allium cepa L.) seed vigor and decided the differences between seed physiological potential influence plant performance in field conditions were identified in two experimental years. Six seed lots of Petroline cultivar were evaluated for germination and vigor, in laboratory, and field seedling emergence. Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the relative contribution of variables related to fruit production and to seed morphophysiological characteristics to the genetic divergence in passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) progenies, aiming at selecting progenies potentially responsive to fertilization. Ten progenies were evaluated under conditions of low (50% of the recommended dose of fertilizers) and high soil fertility (dose 50% higher than the recommended one), regarding variable sets related to production and to the morphological and physiological characteristics of seeds. ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to characterize the seeds quality and the plant development of F1 and F2 generations of hybrid UENF/Caliman 01 papaya, and the relations between the physic-chemical and physiological quality of seeds, vegetative and reproductive development of plants in the field for 360 days, and fruit quality. The relative contribution (Cr %) to the genetic divergence for each characteristic was estimated. For those with higher importance for each group (Cr = 25%), the Pearson correlation and the canonical correlation analysis were applied. The F1 seeds showed higher physic-chemical and physiological quality, with greater length (0.55 cm), sugar and lipid levels (5.13 and 11.58 mg g-1, respectively), germination and normal seedlings...
